Culinary And Couture Combine At The First Haute Cuisine Paris

When culinary and couture combine, it is sure to be a treat for the senses. More so, when the venue is Paris, the fashion and gastronomical capital of the world. Starting 7 July, Paris will play host to the first ever combined culinary and couture show. The chosen venue is the grand Palais Royale.  Several top-end fashion houses and high profile pastry chefs will be making their way to Paris for this unique event. As the Haute Cuisine Paris kicks off, watch out for creations by the likes of Christian Dior even as you relish the delectable dishes created by celebrity chefs Jean-Francois Piege and Jean-Georges Vongerichten among others.

Piege and Vongerichten are set to pay ode to the white chef’s coat by preparing “un diner blanc” Fashion house Maison Martin Margiela will team up for this white dinner and will present a special collection. The fashion brand’s label is blank and white. Other well-known chefs who will be participating at the event include Chef Vincent Lemains, the man behind the gourmet pastries at Laduree. Lemains will be creating new dessert samples daily for each day of the event, which will conclude on 10 July. Meanwhile, Christian Dior will be going vintage. The luxury fashion brand will be showcasing its 1960s spring/summer collection, the aptly named “Salad”.

In 2010, French gastronomy entered UNESCO’s prestigious intangible cultural heritage of humanity list. The first Haute Cuisine Paris is set to celebrate French culinary culture. Ticket prices are set at €10. The event will be open to the public over the weekend only, with the first two days being dedicated to industry professionals.
