The coming Valentine’s Day, couples in Brighton will be able to pop open a bottle of champagne and celebrate their love at it’s first champagne bar. The city will join the elite league, which includes names such as St Pancras station, London’s Gherkin building and the National Portrait Gallery. The upmarket catering group Searcys, is bringing up this bar.
But they are not divulging any info on the exact location of the exclusive bar, and how much would it cost to have a taste at this place?(I am pretty sure it won’t be all too cheap, but who knows, maybe there will be a select few champagnes that aren’t too steeply priced). But they have told that the bar will also house wines produced within the country. This news came a day after Butlins at Bognor revealed that they would be offering £120-a-bottle Krug champagne, which will feature on its new and improved wine list for holiday-makers.
This has been considered as a welcome addition by the tourism bosses. According to Claire Mitchell, from Brighton’s Tourism Alliance, selling Sussex wines would give a much-needed boost to the village economy. Michael Roberts, director of Ridgeview Wine Estate in Ditchling Common, agrees with this view.
