Bloomingdales to open smaller stores now

We know that Bloomingdales has all these massive stores. But the company is changing its game plan now. They are going to open smaller stores, and the first one following this new trend is their store in Santa Monica, California, which will be opening on August 6. It will be a part of the new Santa Monica Place, which is a 550,000 square-foot open air mall.

Unlike its previous stores who main plus point was the endless choice, these stores are looking towards something more compact. Here there will be a focussed collection that will include only things like accessories, shoes, and cosmetics. Home goods, children’s clothing and plus size apparels wont be a part of these new stores. This kind of well edited selection of merchandise can be a good thing but if you are one of those people who do all their shopping at once then the previous big stores were actually very helpful cause one didn’t have to go to different places.

The other stores in this new Santa Monica Place include Nordstorm, CB2, Burberry, Tiffany & Co, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Juicy Couture among others. The mall also has some high end restaurants as well as the fast casual ones. The top deck will also host a programme every Friday night during the months of August and September that will feature a DJ from KCRW.
