They say that when you’re alone when you are at the top. Day in and out we come across studies which link different situation with health conditions but a recent study connected the glam of Hollywood tinsel town with marriage failure rates for actresses. Did we really need this linkage? Anyway, the study showed that Oscar winners like Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Halle Berry and Kate Winslet had their marriages falling apart just after a short lag since they took their awards home. So is there a bad omen attached to this superlative accreditation of the movie land?
The interesting thing to note here is that this relation works only for the winners of Best Actress category and not for that of actors. I can already see some feminist folks hopping out of their chair as they read it. The study definitely does not intend to invoke any gender bias here but is only clearly stating the relationship evidenced out of facts.
An obvious reason that can be attached to this finding is that men tend to feel insecure around women who are successful. Men usually fall for oyuth and beauty whereas women fall for power and success. Not many men can handle their wives’ relatively high pay packages or success stories which leads to straining of relationships. This is then vented out in frequent fights and clashes eventually leading to increased divorce rates.
