Bentley has expanded its range at the top end of powerful luxury cars. Their 2013 Continental GT and GTC V8 were unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show. The 5000 pound super cars were no less than sports cars in terms of their power, speed, handling and performance. However when you compare them to V12s they seem to be underpowered. And Bentley has done some strategic modifications that has improved its performance capabilities further and somewhat bridged the gap between V8 and V12. The new improved version of the GT and GTC V8 models will be ready for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Sleeker and Faster Models Have More Horse Power and Troque
The sleeker and faster models have been named the S models. The coupe and the Cabrio in the series are both capable of a higher performance because its horse power has gone up by 21 and it also boasts of an extra 15 pound/feet troque. The upgraded models now boast of a total of 521 hp and 502 lb/ft. They still feature the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine but the engineers at Bentley have managed to tweak it to enhance its performance without compromising on its fuel economy or emissions. It is a remarkable achievement that successfully bridges the gap between V8s and the fire breathing V12s.
The New Coupe Can Achieve Speeds of 62 mph in Just 4.5 Seconds
The suspension and the shock absorbers in the new model are the same as the previous one but they have been recalibrated to provide sharper handling and faster 0-62 timings. The new model is faster by three tenth of a second in achieving 0 to 62 mph speed. The coupe can hit the 62 mph speed in just 4.5 seconds but the convertible is slightly slower as it clocked 4.7 seconds. The visual changes in the exterior of the car are that dramatic but compliment its upgraded performance. Side sills, rear diffuser, front splitter have been revised and the radiator grille has been blacked out to make it look sleeker and sharper. The S model features 20 inch wheels and V8 S badging on the front fenders. The cars are expected to be ready for delivery by early 2014. The pricing will become clearer much before that so that the bookings can start.
