Quattro is arguably Audi’s most magical creations and the German automaker has been striving to make it even better for the last 33 years. Audi has officially released the first pictures of the Audi Sport Quattro Concept which is an upgrade on the previous versions. The initiative to upgrade had received a setback when the 2010 sports Quattro concept was canned due to lack of funds. The new concept of the magical car is all ready to make a debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor show. The setback of 2010 seems to have driven the design team to come up with their best and have created a concept that definitely appears to be a lot better.
The New Concept is a Bigger and Better Car With More Power
The first change from the previous concept that you notice is the new design of the headlamp. The earlier concept featured round lights which have been replaced by Audi’s newly launched Matrix LED units. The new concept has a more muscled look because of bigger bumpers and fatter C pillar. The car is more powerful and the look complements it. The overall dimensions of the car have also been enhanced. The dimensions of the new concept are 4,602 millimeters long, 1,964 millimeters wide with a height of 1,386 millimeters. It is a bigger and better car with more power and will definitely please the Audi admirers who expect the best from the German car maker.
The Hybrid System is Capable of Accelerating From 0 to 62mph in 3.7 Seconds
The most dramatic difference however is not visible at first sight as it lies under the hood. The earlier concept featured a 405 HP 2.5 liter engine but the new concept boasts of a hybrid system. The Audi Sport Quattro Concept now features a 6 speed manual transmission which has been linked with a 4.0 liter V8 engine capable of producing 552HP. It is complemented by a disc shaped electric motor that produces 148HP. The total output of the pair adds up to a staggering 691 HP or 700 PS. Both the motors can work together to accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 62mph in 3.7 seconds and can top out at 190 mph. The motors can also work independently if you don’t need the optimum power and speed.
