Audi of America Gets Renovo Hardwood Bicycles to Create a Wooden Bike Collection

by Mayuri

Audi of America announced a unique partnership recently. They are teaming up with Renovo Hardwood Bicycles to create a collection of wooden bikes that bring to the fore the philosophy of performance and technology that Audi believes in.  Renovo are the only all hardwood bike manufacturer in the world and they would be creating an Audi inspired collection that would high light the luxury and performance Audi stands for. The results are bound to be exciting as two players who are regarded amongst the best in their respective fields come together for a unique project.

Audi is more than satisfied with the results as a statement from the German car maker calls the wooden bike a work of art. They have appreciated the combination of beauty and craftsmanship with performance and technology. The Audi Duo hardwood bike range unveiled by the German premium brand consists of three models, namely commuter, hybrid and road. The bicycles have been designed to offer the smoothest ride as it is a recognized fact that wood absorbs shock and vibration better than metal or even carbon fiber.

The Duo bicycle frames comprise monocoque frames made of hardwood. Apart from its superior shock absorbing capabilities the wood in the frame is very light as it weighs only as much as a quarter of a comparable aluminum frame. The Duo frames are lighter than most frames but they do not compromise on stiffness, durability and toughness. The wooden bikes will sport Audi’s four-ring logo and the finishing will be done with specific Audi color schemes in mind. Gates Center Track belt drives are a special feature of the Audi Duo Bikes. The price of the bikes start at $6,530 and the top model has been priced at $7,460.
