The star of hit TV series Two and a Half Men, Aston Kutcher had been in the news after he split from his wife Demi Moore in November. Richard Branson also advertised the fact that Kutcher had signed up with his Virgin Galactic as the 500th passenger for a flight into space. Any association with a high profile celebrity generates a lot of free publicity and the concept of space tourism needs every bit of publicity it can get. Since his split with his wife, Aston Kucher has been living in the Hollywood Hills house that he has rented for $50,000 a month. He simply fell in love with the place and quickly decided to purchase it before anyone else could get interested in the property. Kutcher even announced the fact on TV while promoting the new season of his other series Punk’d. The Hollywood mansion was listed and he paid $10.8 million to get it registered in his name. He joked during his TV appearance that he was suspicious about Justin Bieber was trying to buy the house from under him. Aston obviously pulled out all stops to ensure that he did not loose out to anyone.
Aston was talking to Jimmy Kimmel last week and he confirmed that he was almost forced to buy the house as he did not want to loose the house. It is a large house with 9,400 square feet of living space. The mansion boasts of five generously sized bedrooms. The house overlooking Lake Hollywood provides stunning views to the residents. The large living room has walls of glass. The other highlights of the mansion are the private movie theater, a dedicated bar area, a plush gym and a massage room. The state of the art gourmet kitchen on the property is also rather large and can cater to a large gathering of his showbiz friends. The mansion was originally listed for $12 million and later scaled down to $10.8 million. The purchase was conducted through the star’s trust. However, the final sale price was not disclosed. Aston said that he had liked the house very much but had booked it for only three months but when he was told that others were showing interest in the property for buying it and finally when he received a text message from Bieber from his house that he had gone to see during his house hunt he moved in quickly to seal the deal.
Now Aston must be feeling more settled and a better frame of mind to concentrate on the movie that he signed recently. It is the indie biographical movie about Steve Jobs and Aston plays the role of Apple’s charismatic CEO. The movie will simply be called Jobs. Matt Whiteley will write the script, and Joshua Michael Stern of Swing Vote fame will direct the movie. The filming will start in May when Aston Kutcher will be taking a break from his hit series Two and a Half Men. The news about this movie broke on April 1 and there were many who believed it to be an April Fool joke. Variety, the publication that carried the story had to repeatedly clarify that it was a serious real story and not a joke. There is another movie being developed by Sony Pictures on the biographical book on Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. A bearded Aston Kutcher has a strong resemblance with young Steve Jobs when he wore a beard. It would be interesting to see how Aston Kutcher plays Steve Jobs.
