After successful launches in Europe and the US, Louis Vuitton has launched its ‘Art for Baby’ book in Hong Kong. The high profile launch has been accompanied by an ‘Art for Baby’ exhibition as well. The exhibition features works of four of the world’s leading contemporary artists. It is the Asian debut for the unique book that aims to nurture the visual skills of babies and in the process introduce them to the world of art.
The ‘Art for Baby’ book is Yana Peel’s baby. It is her idea and she has worked hard, with support from Louis Vuitton , to produce a high quality yet simple book of art that would appeal to babies. The book comprises simple pieces of art by 10 of the world’s most recognizable contemporary artists. In the initial phase of growing up babies can see color but are unable to distinguish similar tones. Keeping this in mind the book features bold graphics as well as monochromatic black and white contrasts to help them develop their visual capablities.
The exhibition in Hong Kong is being held at the Louis Vuitton’s flagship store there in the Espace Louis Vuitton Hong Kong. Gary Hume, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami and Julian Opie are the artists whose works are on display. These works are also featured in the book. The sales proceeds from this book go to the ‘OUTSET Contemporary Art Fund’.
