Another James Bond Car Auctioned Off

If you ask, which is the most famous car in the world, you wouldn’t be sure of the answer. But apparently, a James Bond Aston Martin has been pegged with the above mentioned title, and has also fetched a very impressive price of £2.6 million at an auction held at Battersea Evolution in London recently. This car is a silver DB5 and was driven by Sir Sean Connery, the very first James Bond, in the Goldfinger and Thunderball.

One would think that such an amount would be more than enough for a car, but it was actually expected to fetch more than £3 million! A spokesman for RM Auctions (those who held this auction) said: “It’s still a lot of money and I don’t think anyone’s disappointed.” The cars last owner was the American broadcasting boss Jerry Lee, who bought the 1964 car for $12,000 way back in 1969.

He fondly talks about the car and say: “The James Bond car has brought me much enjoyment for some 40 years. Even as I sell it and use the proceeds to fund the Jerry Lee Foundation, the car will continue to give me great pleasure as it furthers the mission of the foundation to do good around the world.” The Jerry Lee foundation was established 10 years ago and works to support education and anti-crime projects internationally.
