Abrams Media Launches Yet Another Site Mogulite to Focus on Moguls

Dan Abrams may have changed his association with the news network he works for but is expanding his web empire with the same aggressive intent. And why not, as all his initiatives in the last two years have received tremendous response to add up to millions of unique visits every month. Mogulite, the seventh site in his Media Network has gone live and adds another facet to his dominating presence in the web world. The new site is the part of the same family as Mediaite, Geekosystem and the Mary Sue and it has been launched to focus on chronicling the lives of moguls of all stripes, ranging from Mark Cuban to Oprah Winfrey, Arianna Huffington and more! Dan Abrams clearly aims to make his media network the most comprehensive on the web and is creating a product, one after the other, for every niche that has a reader base. As always he is confident that that this new site like the rest in his stable, will not just add to the clutter but have that differentiating twist that will attract the attention of not only the readers but the people it will cover.

Mogulite is not a half hearted attempt at creating another portal but a very serious project is evident from the fact that The Real Deal’s Amy Tennery has joined as managing editor and The Daily Beast’s Peter Lauria will be contributing as consulting editor. The content provided on the site will cover a wide spectrum of blog posts about the rich and powerful. To give you an idea, at one end it will tell you about “Pizza And Condoms: The Weirdest Kate And William Products” and on the other it will also have “What Microsoft CEO Ballmer Gets Wrong About Employee Compensation”. Mogulite believes that what the ultra-wealthy and powerful do matters. There are those who are doing their bit in trying to change things for the better and Mogulite will not just celebrate but highlight it. But at the same time it will expose those who secretly serve as puppeteers and make our lives more miserable. And if the tone and tenor of the site is maintained there is no reason why this site cannot be as successful as the others in Abrams Media. Abrams says that the challenge is making the content compelling enough for consumers while also making it ‘insidery’ enough so that the people we write about will care what the editors think.

It all started in July 2009 with the launch of Mediaite as a media news site. It combines editorial content with analytic rankings of media personalities It has made it to Technorati’s list of the top 20 blogs in the country. Soon after Abrams, with longtime friend, Michael Lewittes launched Gossip Cop, a media watchdog site that patrols the celebrity gossip universe. Geekosystem was launched in January 2010 as an extension of Mediaite to follow ‘Geek’ culture. It covers everything from technology and science fiction to video games and comics. Styleite, was launched in March as a counterpart of Mediaite in fashion. It features both news and opinion content. Then came Sports Grid in May. It offers sports media news and opinion. The Mary Sue is another specialized site by Abrams that was launched in February this year. It highlights women in the geek world, and provides a prominent place for the voices of geek women. Mogulite is the latest but definitely not the last site to be launched by Dan Abrams.
