Abbey Road Studios Piano Used by The Beatles on the Market

Anything related to the Beatles holds a lot of sentimental value for the fans. Beatles were the first to have a huge crazy fan following. It is a whole generation of fans who have aged but Beatles hold a special place for them. An important piece of Beatles memorabilia has been listed for auction. It is the piano used by the Beatles when they were recording “Paperback Writer” at London’s Abbey Road Studios.

This memorabilia becomes more important and valuable because it was used by Pink Floyd also during one of their recordings in the same studio. The piano which was made by Challen is not in playing condition right now. There are lot of cigarette burns and coffee stains on the piano but its vintage value and history makes it a collector’s item.

Stephen Maycock, the consultant specialist for Beatles memorabilia at the Bonham’s auction house said that it is the first instrument from  the Abbey Road studios to come on the open market. The piano which was retired from service in the 1980s will be auctioned at the Vintage Goodwood Festival in West Sussex, Southeast England, on August 15 and is expected to fetch more than $150,000. It is bound to witness some serious bidding because hardcore Beatles fans are elderly now and financially very capable.
