Tonio Lamborghini Opens Boutique Hotel in China with Join-In Group

Tonio Lamborghini is the son of Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of Italy’s Lamborghini automotive brand which is now owned by Volkswagen. Tonio founded a F&B, IT and hospitality business in the same name in 1981. He got into hotels relatively recently with his first boutique hotel in Parma, Italy in 2006. His next step seems more like a leap as he has opened a luxury boutique hotel in China. The Lamborghini hotel is located near Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park. The new hotel is a collaborative initiative between the Tonino Lamborghini brand and Chinese real estate developer Join In Group.

Chinese Style and Italian Details

The architecture of the hotel is very much local. 92 rooms are spread in four buildings constructed in classical Suzhou garden style. The hotel complex also boasts of a small pagoda, a bridge and flowing water to complete the picture. The Italian influence is more visible in the interiors. The style is broadly Chinese but the details are all Italian. The furniture are basically Chinese Ming-style but the Lamborghini’s signature bull logo is integrated into the design. The hotel boasts of an indoor swimming pool, spa, gym, a French restaurant and a library. Tonino Lamborghini calls it the perfect combination of a ‘made in Italy’ and Eastern philosophy.

Tonino Lamborghini Brand Poised for Global Growth

As I had said earlier, it is not just a step but a leap into China as nine more Tonino Lamborghini boutique hotels are planned for seven Chinese locations. The proposed hotels in Sanya, Zhuhai, Hangzhou, Xuzhou, Huangshi and Kunshan are in advanced stage of planning. It was in late 2011 that the Join-In Group had signed with Italian Tonino Lamborghini Group and acquired the exclusive rights to use the brand in Asia. They have together formed a company to manage high end hotels and resorts. Shanghai Join In hotel management company will look after the Tonino Lamborghini brand in China, Japan and Canada and promote it to take it to the next level. The brand is poised to become a global brand in the hospitality industry in the coming years.
