The Ritz Carlton Returns to Canada with New Hotel Opening Today in Toronto

The Ritz Carlton is one of the most recognizable luxury brands around the world. Its hotels, resorts and residences are spread practically all over the world. Canada had been missing the popular brand, but finally the wait is over as The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. makes its long awaited return to Canada with the opening of The Ritz Carlton, Toronto. The upscale property was five years in the making, but the wait has been worthwhile as the final product is outstanding.

In pure economic terms the new hotel has done its bit for creating new employment opportunities. Out of a total of 15,000 applicants 450 got job offers in different departments of the hotel. The hotel has total of 267 guest rooms including suites. 20,000 lbs of linen were ordered to get the rooms fully decked up before the opening. 450 pieces of original artwork adorns the walls and public spaces of the hotel. The artworks are mostly from young, up and coming Canadian artists.

Maple leafs, a must for Canada, were custom designed in bronze and embedded into the lobby floor. Another extraordinary design detail is the 500lbs single slab of green onyx marble adorns the wall above the free-standing bathtub in the 2,400 square feet Ritz-Carlton Suite. The preparations in the F&B division are equally comprehensive and impressive. Over 200 varieties of cheese have been stocked in the glass encased cheese cave at signature restaurant TOCA by Tom Brodi. 5,000 bottles of the finest wines have been delivered to the hotel’s wine cellar to make the opening memorable. The opening ceremony scheduled for 11.30 am EST will be broadcast on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/ritzcarlton and a dedicated Livestream channel making it a first for luxury hotels worldwide.

Update: We have been told that the top suite in this property costs $6000 a night.
