The Connaught Hotel, one of the most impressive yet discreet hotels of London, has undergone an extensive renovation costing as much as £70 million. It has opened the Aman Spa in its new wing developed as part of the renovation. It has added a touch of understated modern luxury to the Edwardian grandeur of the grand hotel. The spa has been luxuriously built with ample use of marble and granite. It has a waterfall apart from a swimming pool. The steam room is scented.
Some may consider the spa to be a bit small but it is gorgeous. The treatments offered at the spa are simply outstanding. The charming Thai therapist Korn has the expertise to make the treatment an out of this world experience. The China Experience begins with a footbath and goes on for two and half hours of scrubbing, rubbing and massage right from the tip of the toe to crown. The treatment ends with a facial. More often than not the guest is so relaxed that he or she falls asleep through the massage and is woken up at the end for some green tea and kebabs of exotic fruits.
The service at the Connaught Hotel is not simply competent and efficient but very caring. They seem to love you and that is perhaps why their important guests and even heads of state keep coming back to them on their visits to London. Every staff member seems to know your name and is always willing to do more for you than you would expect. The rooms at the hotel start at £339 plus VAT per night and the China Experience at the spa is another £280.
