Steve Wynn , the Las Vegas casino developer and chairman of Wynn resorts has just closed a controversial deal to buy a four bedroom duplex condominium in the Plaza Hotel. The apartment comes with a private elevator and a 24-foot long terrace facing Central Park. Reportedly Mr Wynn paid a total of $23 million for the deal which is $1 million below the asking price of $24 million when the apartment was put back on the market in May this year.
The interior space of the Plaza has been reconfigured and redesigned by the architect Gal Nauer. The new design feature custom made Italian furniture built by Giorgetti. Mr Wynn bought all the furnishings along with the unit. He was particularly impressed by the stunning views the unit offered and the design that utilized the entire space optimally.
Ms. Nauer, who is the daughter of Yitzhak Tshuva, an Israeli billionaire and owner of El-Ad Properties, had earlier signed a contract to pay $31 million for the penthouse in 2007 and made a deposit of $6.2 million. They backed out of the deal as they claimed that the renovations were substandard and nowhere near what they were promised. They have gone to the court to claim back their deposit of $6.2 million.
