Morgans Hotel on Manhattan’s prestigious Madison Avenue can genuinely claim to be different. It can proudly claim to be a trend setter. Many of the industry insiders believe that it is the world’s first boutique hotel. The Morgans Hotel boasts of an artistic heritage. Steve Rubbell and Ian Schrager, the creators of the legendary nightclub Studio 54 had conceived of the Morgans and what type of hotel it should be. The unique luxury hotel was designed by the famous French interior designer Andrée Putman in 1984.
It was considered a pioneer in its field at the time and after so many years the hotel has reinvented itself after it was redesigned by Putman again in 2008. The hotel now offers its guests a choice of several room types. The choices range from a loft to a two storey penthouse. The luxurious touch is visible everywhere in the hotel, be it the Fine Egyptian cotton linens or the fresh flowers in the black and white tiled bathrooms. The lobby gets its stunning distinctive look because of the furniture by the designer Jean-Michel Frank.
There are so many things at the Morgans that you wouldn’t find at any other hotel. One of such novelty is the art installation created by the French design collective Trafik. The guests can enjoy watching the installation that projects randomly selected patterns and colors on the ceiling through the day. At night, the guests can create their own light-art experience in real time. Asia de Cuba, the restaurant at the hotel is also ranked amongst the most popular in New York. It has been designed by no less a designer than Phillipe Starck. Jeffrey Chadorow runs the restaurant that serves a fusion of Latin and Asian cuisine. The hotel is offering a Spring Explorer Package that starts at $235. The rate is applicable for a two night minimum stay.
