Four Seasons To Open Its First Russian Luxury Hotel In St. Petersburg

Four Seasons is headed to Russia. The luxury hotel chain will be opening its first Russian luxury hotel in St. Petersburg this May. The Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace St. Petersburg is sure to draw admiring glances from guests, tourists and passersby.

The soon-to-open Russian luxury hotel is located within a 19th-century royal palace that was built by French architect Auguste de Montferrand in the year 1820. The grand palace was once home to Princess Lobanova-Rostovskaya. The stunning Baroque architecture is possibly the reason why Four Seasons chose to open its Russian innings in St. Petersburg rather than Moscow. St. Petersburg has long been regarded as Russia’s cultural capital. It is home to grand imperial architecture, historic art museums and so much more. Once the new Four Seasons hotel opens in St. Petersburg, luxury travelers will be able to experience the city’s art and history first hand.

The Lion Palace has been resorted and converted into a luxury hotel under the aegis of Reardon Smith Architects and interior designer Anderson Miller. Guests will still be greeted by the grand marble stairway and can enjoy the airy 177 rooms in the hotel that overlook either the city or the courtyard. New additions include a fifth floor that houses rooms with terraces that offer views of St. Isaac’s Cathedral, and two inner glass-roofed courtyards have also been introduced. One of the glass courtyards is a four-level spa while the other houses a tea lounge.

The Russian luxury hotel will have two restaurants – a still-unnamed restaurant that will offer modern Italian cuisine, and Sintoho, an Asian eatery with a sushi bar. Both restaurants will be led by Italian chef Andrea Accordi. Meanwhile, the Xander bar will serve up traditional Russian zakuskis, champagne, cognac and cigars.

Travelling to Russia just got grander!
