Kusama Pumpkin Minaudière Launched by LV at Selfridges for $133,430

Kusama Pumpkin Minaudière is a kind of a climax to one of the most successful art union ever. Yayoi Kusama is one of the most celebrated contemporary artists of Japan who is well known for her dense patterns of polka dots and nets. Her collaboration with the French luxury design house Louis Vuitton has resulted in a collection of handbags, ready-to-wear, travel bags, and accessories. Kusama’s iconic bright, repetitive patterns are visible prominently in all the articles created for the collection. The exclusive collection created by the collaboration was made available in the UK only at Selfridges London. The high end store had also positioned it at the highest end by creating an unprecedented 24-window scheme designed by Yayoi Kusama herself.

Five Pieces of the Exquisite Handbag Planned

The window scheme at Selfridges was topped by erecting a giant Yayoi Kusama doll on top of its legendary main canopy entrance on Oxford Street. The Kusama Pumpkin Minaudière has been created to take the successful collaboration forward. The limited edition jewel bag was launched with a price tag of $133,430. Only five pieces of the exquisite handcrafted bag has been planned. The design of the bag is apparently inspired by the small-sized statement evening bags first introduced by jewelers in France in the 1930s. A bag of similar shape and size has been crafted out of black resin, pure gold and some of the finest metals.

One of the World’s Most Expensive Handbags

Louis Vuitton’s master craftsmen have artistically shaped the bag in Kusama’s famous trademark pumpkin motif. But what makes the bag exclusive is the intricate detailing which has been achieved by following a delicate and meticulous process. It has become a really show-stopping product. With a price tag of $133,430 the Kusama Pumpkin Minaudière qualifies as one of the world’s most expensive handbags. The design limited to just five pieces is available to order through Louis Vuitton concession at Selfridges. Louis Vuitton has been encouraged by the success of its earlier exclusive and expensive designs. The Coquille D’ Oeuf Minaudiere which was the show stopper of its spring/summer 2012 collection was launched to commemorate Vuitton- Marc Jacobs partnership and priced at $101,000.
