Silvio Berlusconi to pay a hefty alimony

Silvio Berlusconi’s string of affairs have cost him a lot. Though money isnt an issue for the Italian head of state, his divorce is definitely going to pinch him a bit. His second wife, Veronica Lario will keep their 78 million euro (£67 million) Villa Belvedere, near Milan and will most probably receive a maintenance of £3.6 million per year.

She filed for divorce when it came in the news that her husband had attended the 18th birthday party of a glamorous lingerie model saying she could no longer be with a man who “associated with minors and who was ill.” The mother of his three children had asked for a home for them and a princely sum of than £3 million a month as maintenance. But the settlement now seems to be at £3.6 million a year – or £300,000 a month.

Mr Berlusconi is supposed to be worth around £5.6 billion and is one of the world’s richest men. He has earned his fortune through his Fininvest holding company, TV stations, football club AC Milan, publishing companies and investment firms.

Miss Lario had threatened to “make things messy” for Mr Berlusconi when the case had started. However now shee seems to have cooled down after getting a pretty decent divorce settlement.
