The Baha Mar resort scheduled to open on March 27 in the Caribbean redefines the scale and size of a luxury resort. Built at a cost of £3.5 billion, the mega resort features its own golf course and more than 2,000 rooms. There are four luxury hotels in the resort: the 1,000-room Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, the 700-room Grand Hyatt, the 300-room SLS LUX, and 200-room Rosewood hotel. The ambitious project has been financed by the Chinese government and features 200,000 square feet of convention space, more than 50 restaurants, bars and clubs. The highlight is the 18-hole golf course with ocean views which has been designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The resort hopes to host PGA Tour events in the future.
The resort boasts of 20 acres of beach and pools and a beachfront nature sanctuary. The resort also has a range of boutiques, spa and art galleries. The high end resort will have room rates starting at $350 per night at the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel. The rates at the Rosewood and SLS LUX will average around $720 per night. The 100,000 square feet casino is the centerpiece of the resort and hopes to upstage the popular Atlantis Resort and Casino just a few miles away on Paradise Island. The rooms in the hotels boast of 48-inch flat screen televisions, Nespresso coffee machines.
The promoters of the resort are confident the Baha Mar will introduce a ‘new era of luxury, glamour, gaming and excitement’ to the sun-drenched island. Every detail of the resort is being perfected and that’s why the original schedule of December opening has been postponed to March. One of the four hotels may become fully functional only by May. A total of 4,100 Chinese workers have toiled hard to create the mega resort. The state of the art casino has been designed to match the best you find in Las Vegas, Macau or Singapore. The resort has been designed as a complete luxury product and hopes to turn the Bahamas into a world-class gaming destination. Watch this space for the opening offers if you want to be among the first guests to experience the new resort.
