Luxury market and e-commerce are both in the process of maturing in India. The trend was confirmed by the launch of the very first Indian online portal dedicated to the Indian luxury market. It is called Luxurion World and its tag line is ‘India’s Tryst With Luxury’. The Indian economy is growing at a relatively fast rate and the resulting affluence has created demand for luxury goods and services. At the same time the increase in penetration of the online infrastructure in the country has made it the market to watch for e-marketers. Luxurion World is a brand oriented site and has been designed on the luxury and e-commerce industry format.
Online Shopping Industry is Growing at 100% in India
Founded by Vinod Gupta of the MultiNet Group of Companies, the portal is poised to take advantage of the rapid growth in the luxury industry and e-commerce industry in India. The luxury market in the country is growing at a healthy 20% whereas the online shopping industry is recording a phenomenal 100% growth year on year. The analysts predict that by 2013 39 million users will do online transactions whereas the current base is as small as 8 million users only. Mr Gupta believes that Luxurion World is the right product at the right time and it will grow rapidly with the market.
The Luxury Portal Has Three Distinct Shopping Zones
The portal has three distinct categories or shopping zones: Indian luxury, Global luxury and Luxury Services. At present they are offering 75 exclusive brands and 3,000 premium products. The Indian luxury segment offers Accessories, Apparels, Art, Craftsmen of India, Home & Office Décor and Jewelry products. International luxury brands are available in the global segment. They have tied up with brands like Jaguar, Diesel, Victorinox Swiss Army, Timberland and David Beckham. In addition they are offering a retail range by MET Museum of Art in New York. Under luxury services the portal offers luxury havens, spa and salon services. It will soon add on services like private jets and yacht charters and other exclusive lifestyle experiences. The site has dedicated tie ups with leading art galleries and will offer news, trivia and snippets in its blog segment.
