Baselworld 2012: Harry Winston Reveals The Premier Feathers Luxury Watch Collection

Each year, luxury watch manufacturers and jewelry-makers look forward to Baselworld. The 2012 edition is going to be no different. As reports relating to the high-end participants flow in, let us scoot over to sneak a peek at a few artistic timepieces from the house of Harry Winston. Harry Winston’s offering this year is the Premier Feathers collection. This luxury watch line is high on artistry and features (as the name suggests) the use of exotic bird feathers. Before PETA goes up in arms, Harry Winston has revealed that the feathers have been sourced ethically using birds reared for this express purpose.

The dials are a fine example of feather art. The four dials feature feathers from the silver pheasant, the Lady Armherst pheasant, the peacock and the ring-necked pheasant respectively. Nelly Saunier, who is known for her feather work, was brought on board to design the Premier Feather collection. Each luxury watch in this collection also features the Cluster – a three-dimensional technique that Harry Winston invented and used to set pear, brilliant and marquise-cut stones asymmetrically. The four 36mm watches feature quartz movements and either 18-karat white or rose gold casings. 66 brilliant-cut diamonds worth 1.45 carats adorn the casing. There is also a brilliant-cut crown. Even the satin strap is high on bling with an 18-karat white or rose gold buckle that features 29 brilliant-cut diamonds.

The result is stunning artistry and a luxury watch collection. Women who cannot afford a luxury watch from this collection will be sure to envy those that can.
