ExoDesk offers the advantage of Microsoft Surface at $1,299

So Microsoft Surface is all set to bring in a new horizon for desktop computing but the price of $8,400 is probably too high for you to be a part of that revolution. Here is the poor man’s version of Surface priced at just $1,299. The transparent touchscreen workspace will first debut for public appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January. The 40-inch HD baby will hit shelves in 2012 whereas the HTML5 multi-touch development kit and the bi-directional application store are expected to open to developers sooner.

However the company ExoPC has kept the hardware specs under the wraps as of now. the teaser video shows that this one is pretty close to what Microsoft Surface SUR40 offers. The company presently manufacturers a pair of tablets running Windows 7 and this is their first time with something like this. The interactive desk has pretty much but this Canadian tech company into spotlight. The video here has garnered as much as 150,000 views in the last two days.

The tech pundits are drawing comparisons  to Microsoft Surface, a touchscreen tablet from the software giant which is reportedly in its second iteration with the first one being available for pre-order for a price of $8,400. The EXOdesk however tries better to reach consumers with a more manageable price of $1,299. The 40-inch HD baby will hit shelves in 2012 whereas the HTML5 multi-touch development kit and the bi-directional application store are expected to open to developers sooner.
