Newly Wed Bhutanese Royal Couple to Take Luxury Train Ride through Rajasthan

The newly-wed Bhutanese royal couple -King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema are on their first state visit India for a week. They have a string of engagement through the week and the Indian Railways is all set to roll out the red carpet for their Rajasthan leg of the tour. The 31-year-old Oxford-educated King will be given a taste of a luxury train ride from New Delhi to Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur on October 27. The railways would be providing a special luxury train for the royal couple for whom it is more of a honeymoon than an official visit.

The special salon is actually a customized luxurious set of coaches with a furnished drawing and dining room along with a bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen. There will be a separate coach for the security personnel traveling with them. The coach of the salon is designed in such a way that it has very good exterior view. The railways are excited about the royal couple’s acceptance to travel by a surface transport. They have pulled out all stops to make it a memorable ride for them.

The salon will be attached to the back of a train to avoid any inconvenience to the guests. The royal couple was given a rousing reception at the IGI airport. Milind Deora, the Minister of State for Telecommunications was at hand to receive them. They are getting the official engagements out of their way before they embark on the rail journeys through Rajasthan. With senior Railway officials looking after all the arrangements it is one trip the royal couple is sure to remember for a long-long time.
