Horse Enthusiasts Would Love This Expensive Property In Calgary

A mansion spread over 11,900 square feet, eight three-bedroom luxury condos and heavy-duty equestrian facilities make the Canadiana Properties in Calgary, Alberta a fine property investment.

Price:
Currently listed for sale at $12.5 million, this expensive property promises value for money.

Background:
Built in 1974 by a German aristocrat named Baron Carlo Von Maffei, this expensive mansion is among the largest such properties in Calgary. The Baron was a horse enthusiast, which explains the presence of the on-site Canadiana Equestrian Centre. The Baron bought the huge expanse of land in the mid-1960s.

Equestrian Facilities:
The Baron used to maintain nearly 40 thoroughbreds at a time. 15 of these were brood mares. So he took care to ensure that the equestrian facilities were top-class. The facility features an indoor arena, foal and stable barns, fenced paddocks and an outdoor ring for shows. In fact, one of the Baron’s yearlings once sold for $108,000. It remains the costliest transaction for a yearling in the Alberta region.

Other Details:
It is said that the Baron played host to numerous prominent people. The main mansion was built for grand gatherings, with a 24,000-square-foot living room. Baroque-style furniture in the dining room added a further aristocratic appeal to the majestic U-shaped mansion. Meanwhile, the eight Condos offered 1,500 square feet of space. They can easily be rented out. There is also a 2,500-square-foot home for the barn manager and an attached rental apartment of 1,800 square feet.

Sellers:
Ross Pavl of Re/Max House of Real Estate and Ben Eby of Re/Max Mountainview are working their magic on selling this property.
