As per reports, YouTube will be providing Live webcast of the seven hour long ceremony that as against traditional terms will be a wedding where there will be no exchange of wedding rings. The online telecast of this gala event is expected to break records set by the death of Michael Jackson, an even that had literally brought the web to its knees due to the immense traffic drawn to the Live telecast of the funeral.
The Royal Wedding is said to be watched by over two billion people across the globe on their televisions, while about 400 million Internet users are believed to be online watching the event via the Internet. Then entire ceremony is said to begin at 3pm Pacific Time and on this grand occasion, the British Monarchy has also decided to maintain a continuous stream of live feeds through various social networking channels such as Twitter, Facebook and an official website dedicated to the event.
YouTube was selected by Accenture on behalf of the British Royal Family, after its network was thoroughly tested for its capacity to handle the web traffic.
