In early February, we heard that The Lanesborough was giving its lavish first floor suite a makeover. Apparently, the five-star hotel in London sold off all the old furniture from the suite at Bonhams’ period design sale on 29 March. The suite makeover must have been an elaborate and extensive one. Guests will soon be able to see what The Lanesborough has done with the space when the suite re-opens in May.
1 May will be the opening day for The Lanesborough suite. Sadly, the hotel will miss out on a unique opportunity to rake in big bucks over the royal wedding weekend. The Prince William-Kate Middleton wedding is on 29 April. But would two days of lost business really trouble the owners of a suite that is let out for a whopping £14,000 a night?
The Lanesborough suite is spread over some 4,000 square feet. Thus, it ranks among the largest luxury suites in London. It is not going to be the largest though, once the Corinthia Hotel London opens its doors in April. The Corinthia Hotel’s Royal Suite occupies 5,059 square feet of space.
But this is not a battle for space. Rather, it is all about who gives the better luxury experience. And luxury is a given at The Lanesborough suite that includes four bedrooms, six baths, two living rooms, a dining space and access to a 24-hour butler. The suite offers magnificent views of Green Park thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. The clincher to this ultra-luxurious deal? Guests will be transported around town in a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce Phantom.
