This could well be the most expensive dining experience in Stockholm. Leijontornet, one of the most prestigious restaurants in the country, has launched a special ultra-exclusive (and ultra-expensive) food experience. The restaurant will be organizing 12 exclusive dinner parties each year for its wealthy customers. The dinner party program is named Leijontornet 12 X 8.
As it is, Leijontornet is highlighted in many travel guides to Stockholm. The restaurant is located amid 14th century ruins, making it an interesting fine dining experience for diners.
The Experience
The restaurant is all set to host 12 soirees a year for a maximum of eight guests. Leijontornet will provide guests with six-course dinner menus that include aperitifs, mains, coffee and digestifs. Depending on the weather, the fine dining restaurant will also provide post meal cigars. Moreover, the chefs at Leijontornet have promised to avoid all the trappings of molecular gastronomy. No liquid nitrogen. No smoke. No powder. Only classic flavors and techniques will be on offer.
The Preview
Last week, Chef Mikael Einarsson presented a sneak preview of the meals to come. The dishes that he cooked up included petits choux filled with Gruyere, truffles from Gevrey-Chambertin, Bresse pigeon, chanterelles, sweetbread and white sturgeon caviar.
The two Michelin-star restaurant will remain true to its no-recipe roots and continue to cook up free-form foods based on the fresh produce in the kitchen that day.
Schedule: Six dinners will be held from March to May, and six more from September to November.
Price: At 3,750 SEK or €410 per head, the price is rather steep. But then, it promises to be a very unique dining experience.
