Harrods To Offer A Pop Up Restaurant Featuring Chef Thomas Keller

The phenomenon of pop up shops has really caught on in recent times. Even big labels like Gucci, Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger and Louis Vuitton have jumped on to the pop up store bandwagon, not to forget Hermes and Faberge. The most recent entrant on the pop up scene is Harrods. The iconic luxury store, which is situated in Knightsbridge, London, will be hosting a pop up restaurant on its premises in the days to come.

This being Harrods, everything is being done on a large scale. You might recall how the London luxury store invited top designers to design 18 grand cakes to commemorate the royal wedding earlier this year. And now, Harrods is bent on proving that it is not just another run-of-the-mill department store. The luxury department store has roped in a Michelin-starred chef of international standing to run its upcoming pop up restaurant.

Harrods’ chosen one is Thomas Keller, a top international chef who has seven Michelin stars to his name. The man behind Napa Valley restaurant, The French Laundry, will be taking over the fourth floor of the luxury outlet in Knightsbridge from 1 October for 10 days.

This is a great opportunity for London’s food-loving brigade to drop by and sample the American Chef Keller’s delectable dishes. But let me warn you, dining at the pop up French Laundry at Harrods will cost you a pretty penny. The average nine-course meal will set you back by £250 – not too different from other top-rated London restaurants. A seven-course meal at Dorchester Hotel by Alain Ducasse costs £180. Meanwhile, a similar offering by Gordon Ramsay costs £130. But if money is not an issue, start whetting your appetite for the October opening.
