Lamu Industries is turning out to be a name to reckon with for those who seek nothing but pure aesthetic pleasure in their furniture. This company has several hand-crafted solid wood armories, beds, chairs and consoles as well as many types of tables including coffe, library and dining tables to its credit. And these are hand-carved by local craftsmen who live on the East African island of Lamu.

The indigenous ‘mbambakofi’ hardwood (and no veneers) is used to make these spectacular pieces for your home decor. And please note that the cutting down of mbamakofi trees us regulated by the Kenyan Goverment. There is a strict rule that for each tree cut, two new ones are planted on the island.

Name by its makers, the Markham Console Bar, this furniture unit is living proof of the fact that howsoever, ‘modern’ we might like to call ourselves, we still enjoy going back to our rustic roots. The overall look and feel of this console bar is raw and natural thanks to its base made in pine veneer only to be coated with a wheat stain finish. The detailing in saw marks, grooves and peg holes is extremely impressive.

Even the functionality is amazing. The recessed trough in the rear keeps your liquor bottles safe and sound while the gallery shelf houses the glasses. Then there is the hidden drawer for all your bar tools. A cast iron bottle opener is mounted on the side along side a towel bar.

The transparency of being called as the luxury cubicle is proved by the fancy woodwork as Jared’s cube adorned out with a dark cherry hardwood floor, and lavish red mahogany paneling on four walls.

Observe the fluted end caps, smooth evolution from hardwood flooring to carpeted office, and the accurate woodwork all around.
