A dollhouse selling for a big sum of $82,000 is bound to create waves in the news world. We hear that te exquisiteness of this stunning toy is such that it will capture the heart of anyone who lays their eyes on it. Complete with the tiniest of detail been taken care of, the scale down version of a well-furnished home took 15 years of labour to be completed.

And all the hard work reflected in the splendour of the house did not go unnoticed by an overseas collector who agreed to pay the astonishing sum. Now, this forces us to wonder how delectably lavish this person’s own house be when a doll house manages to make him spend so much. Boy oh boy!

Like we told you, the doll house resembles a traditional English house complete with all the regular fixtures of a bath, bedroom, dining room, hallway and a living room. Little extravagances like the chandeliers also find their way in here. The Telegraph reports that the maker of this small splendour has made more money than those selling several real home in the UK

To have the initials that you want and to be the first one in that series is indeed a big deal and that is what was proved by the auctions of some very special number plates by the UK car registration agency. The 1 RH plate went for a whooping $247,652 and the other number plates also went for a lot and reaped in some rich bounty of the municipal authorities.

The sale of 1 RH was impressive, but so was the performance of other lots which achieved prices that would otherwise have raised eyebrows in their own right. Amongst the respectable sales which, nevertheless, pale by comparison were CHR 151S ($13,974) and AYM 44N ($10,564). There have been previous number plates that have gone for a fortune as well and it seems that the sale of number plates is totally immune to the economic slump happening worldwide.

The 1 RH was bought by businessman Robert Harverson and the recruitment sector specialist sure seemed happy with the deal he got out of it!

Believe it or not, but the whole deal is no figment of our imagination. The ballista or should we say catapult was recreated by a team of experts at Carpenter Oak & Woodland in 2002 for a BBC programme called Building the Impossible. The efficient workers kept all known records in mind to the utmost accuracy. The firing was successful too.

Weighing around 12 tons and standing 7.5 metres tall, and 8.5 metres long, the ballista is believed to be one of its kind. 120,000 pounds were spent on its construction. Bidding starts at 25,000 pounds. At that rate the giant caty means some serious business!

The structure is a creation by sculptor Mark Anderson who was bespoken by the site LateRooms.com, designed to offer an appeal similar to that of a giant sand castle.
