We have just discovered some new Television remote controls by Sony Japan. These remote controls have simple basic functions and they come with big buttons. This will make it easier for the users to see the buttons and change the channels easily. These remote controls are waterproof. Thank God somebody at least came up with a waterproof remote control. Mine just stopped functioning as I accidentally poured water on it.Now I can care less if it happens again.

These Sony remote controls are compatible with most TV manufacturers. They will be on sale from September 10 onwards at but only in Japan. They will be available for 2468 Yen ($29). They come in five different colors. Interestingly, the remote controls have sharp numbered buttons but the button no. zero is printed on the button no. 10 in a small size.

I wonder why they had to do this. Probably Sony wanted to save some space for other purposes. Nevertheless, it’s not a bad deal considering it’s a water-proof remote control. My only worry is if this will ever be available in other places apart from Japan.

It is not just Sony that seems to have struck a golden deal with Netflix, but even LG seems to have gotten on the same bandwagon and in case of LG, it is sooner than later. While most HDTV set owners believed that Sony would be the first company to offer TV sets that could instantly and automatically connect and stream feed from Netflix, LG has beaten them to the punch by bringing out new 47-inch LCD HDTV and the 50-inch plasma HDTV PS80 that already are capable of doing the exact same.

These LG behemoths have full HD 1080p resolution and you can just queue up your favorite movies and television shows from Netflix and then watch them at your convenience. The new TVs need no external additional device to access this feature and they even can double up as a computer with HD display. It seems at this point that LG has partnered with Yahoo! to avail the feature and with more companies likely to jump in, it is the consumer who will finally profit with loads of entertainment options.

It is a well known fact that when new products are unveiled a buzz is created in the market. Now that Sony Ericsson has unveiled their portable Bluetooth speaker, the market is abuzz with rumours and information about this cool new product. It even comes with a splash proof casing, which means you could take this outside without fearing water or rain.

The Sony Ericsson MS500 runs up to 5 hours and needs 2 AA batteries. You could stream audio from your cellphone or PMP and the AVRCP remote control works well with it. Since the speakers are palm sized, do not expect the sound to be overwhelming and awesome, but it would be just great to listen to music on the go.

You could choose between black and orange or white and pink. There is no information about either the price or availability. In my opinion, it looks great! Just get your act together and buy this the moment you see it some corner.

“Flex OLED” screen from Sony has been displayed at the CES 2009. It is a flexible OLED screen, which might be used in portable devices of the future. It measures a few inches across and is capable of being bent slightly even while the device is functioning slightly as in when it is playing a video.

Sony’s flexible OLED display is the first time making an appearance outside Sony’s research labs. The technology is still very new but has witnessed a tremendous improvement since the time Sony showed a demo back in May 2007 of a similar screen in a video. In 2007 display, Sony generated a lot of unwanted criticisms as they were criticized for their technical defects and issues. Most of theses problems have been rectified in this new display. Companies do seem to have a great faith in OLED’s successful future for the OLED technology. OLEd’s main rivalry as of now is LED, which is a promising technology that is quite powerful as compared to the technology used in existing plasma and LCD panels.

In case you are wondering as to when you might get to use OLED technology on large TVs and displays then. it may take a while from now for it to become real.

When Sony announced at the IFA that its 40ZX1 LCD TV will now be accompanied by a standard built in wireless HD video technology, it sent a few strong ripples across. Hearing this, many companies were aghast and then there was the expected ‘me-tooing’. Panasonic and Toshiba were two of the few names involved in the follow-up claims. But it is a bit surprising that even after running demos of wireless HD video technology at CEATAC, both the brand names will not be able to bring any products into the market till late next year.

Yet another wireless pusher is Hitachi. It was doing demos on a system based around the Ultra Wideband (UWB) standard operating in the 4.2-4.8 GHz range. Hitachi has just suggested that its wireless HD technology will be a part of a new RGB LED back-lit TV which will have a separate mulitmedia reciever box. The claims have been attractive for sure, but we haven’t heard anything concrete but subtle suggestions.

So, here is the part one of the CEATAC’08 report. Absolutely nothing can beat the Sharp invention of the Porsche and Ferrari inspired design of the ultra-premium XS1 screens, with some not so slender ladies standing in front of the stand. Toshiba on its part had a big TV leanng against the wall with the help of a blacked out stand that was twinkling with stars. Sony got the maximum impact out of the sub-1cm depth of its 40ZX1 by putting a row of them at different angles. Hitachi’s presentation was very entertaining with a huge collection of hand-crafted deisgner prototypes that included one finished completely in gold leaf.

Check out the video:
