The mankind has always been fascinated by the future whether it’s been philosophers, writers and scientists, of course. Sci-fi fans intend to take it to an all new level altogether. Retro-futurism is the form that is the current favorite with both geeks and connoisseurs. And if you have the moolah (apart from the zest, of course) then you must definitely check out the Shipwrecked Submarine Home Theater.

A fascinating concept, this one is really the play room of Wayne Eyre (no relation of the famous Jane Eyre) who went on to spend a huge $100,000 on this submarine complete with plutonium-leaking torpedos.

Apart from the sci-fi razzmataz, the theater features the best in equipment as well as furniture. A whole set of reclining chairs are at your disposal as you set out to enjoy the three-meter big screen TV with an ultimate surround sound system that emit sonar and ocean sonds throughout the 12-meter by 5.5m room. On the base of custom wood, a spray of concrete and paint reminds of rusting steel beams while the melted plastic sheets give the impression of bent steel.

‘Ferrari’, just the name is enough to send anyone’s heart pulsating. But then what do you say to one in gold.  Yep, you heard it right. If our sources are to be believed the car mogul has had Pininfarina design this prancing horse model the retro way, that too in the color gold. And that should explain why it is being referred to as ‘The Golden Ferrari’.

From the looks of it, the wonder machine does look inspired by the Ferrari 599 GTB model but we can’t be too sure about its underpinnings. Did we tell you that there is no official information on the car expect that the car was snapped by onlooker. But we have our guess work intact. And we are quite sure that the style of the car is really a revival of the 1965 Ferrari 250 GT NART Spyder that was designed and built by Modena coachbuilder Fantuzi at the special request of Luigi Chinetti, the North American importer at Ferrari.

The car was first exhibited at the 1965 San Francisco Sports Car Show and later at the New York and Miami Auto motor shows. Here’s some trivia. A golden version of NART Spyder featured in a forgettable film called ‘Toby Dammit’ which gave Pininfarina the idea to recreate one all over again.

Movado is a watch brand dedicated to the art of telling time in style. And like always, the company is all set to woo us this year too with an impressive line up. A rather non-Museum style in watches, the 800 Datron Chronograph is a smart piece. A 40 mm wide steel case holds it together as an automatic ETA 2894-2 movement inside keeps the watch ticking.

We also hear that this Datron version by Movado is greatly inspired by the fashion in 70s which is why it has a top mounted round window that looks like the sun dot on the signature Movado Museum watch. Everything right from the oblong case to the chronograph pushers and crown has something retro about it.

Both the watch case and the bracelet have been made in something called Performance Steel that is scratch-free. The watch comes in two color option — one in black face with silver subsi dials while the other one has a silver face with black dials. Both are equally nice. Pay close to $3,000 for anything in the Movado 800 series.

It has all the qualities to be counted among one of the coolest coffee tables ever made. Such is the aura of the Hotrod Engine Coffee Table. No it does not feature any fancy techie stuff like a touch screen display neither is it accompanied by a music box. But its plain simple back to the basics concept will lure even the geekiest of geeks around.

For starters, the coffee table is as detailed as anything could be. Being fashioned the retro way, it comes covered in soft black leather and has attractive tattoo-like carvings. The shiny vintage carburetor also adds to the over all look. Of course, it is strongly aided by the two brass knuckles.

The Hotrod table stands firm on a solid mahogany wood base while the beautiful inlays of alligator and stingray skin lines the interior. Ouch! We have a feeling that this might not go too well with the strict tree huggers among us. Being handmade, this one sells for $2,900. The price is a tad too high but then, so is the quality of the Hotrod.

We tend to keep ourselves busy with the upcoming gadgets and forget to pay respect to the preceding gadget models that has led to the creation of revolutionary gadgets. The latest edition making up to the news is the analog computer christened as the AKAT-1. The computer can crack intricate differential equations in real time and exclusive of digital logic. The only handicap it faces is the early creation that is a reason for its stay in the Museum of Technology, in Warsaw, Poland.

Sporting a warm and dramatic retro appeal, it has got a personality of its own that speaks volumes about its character. If not for functionality-sake then it is worth installing as a materpieces in your abode. Any takers for this elite AKAT-1??

Those who can’t control their fingers from reaching classic arcade cabinet but fail to found one can now take a deep sigh. Christened as Retro Space, the designer cabinet is developed by Martjin Koch to memorialize the first ever cupboard for an arcade i.e. Computer Space, the cabinet unveiled in 1971. But today with the contemporary offering, it seems to mar the outdated machinery.

The arcade cabinet features over 100 arcade games, gamut of emulators and is accessible on a HD media jukebox. It also sports 1080p video playback, a 24-inch 1920×1200 monitor, Sanwa joysticks and buttons, and a trackball.

But if it falls an inch below your expectations then the retro cabinet also boasts of having a 2gHz Intel Core2Duo processor, 2GB RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet. If you vouch for my opinion then for sure it offers the arcade gaming befitting the 21st century taste.

A year ago, there was a buzz about the concept-based TV from Brionvega – the Brionvega Alpha. And now to my much surprise, the company has finally unveiled “the new generation of Brionvega.’ Based on the modernist classics of Le Corbusier and Breuer, the TV features a 19-inch LCD screen installed within a chrome screen, an incorporated DVD player that comes with audio playback plus an iPod-shaped die-cast aluminum remote. It also offers you an option to get digital tuner fixed-in for additional amount.

It is available in three lively shades i.e. orange, silver and black and bears the starting price of €1,950 (£1,525; $3,000).
