These unqiue design patterns have been created by a New York designer, Alexander Gelman. He has developed the chess sets in four different types of extremely fine Japanese craftsmanship – fuki-urushi (wood lacquering), makie (gold lacquering), haku (platinum lacquering) and kutani (hand decorated ceramic pieces with intricate patterns).
As of now, the chess sets are on display at the Fellissimo Design House in Manhattane to excite New Yorkers. They will be available for made to order at a price lying between $80K and $123K depending on the craftsmanship. Apparently, Gelman wants his city mates to see an alternate way of life via these magnificent artworks!

We are quite  fond of the marriages that take place between famous brands in the name of luxury. This time it is the uber-luxe watch maker A.Lange & Sohne that has joined hands with the Paris-based jewelry store Dubail to reintroduce the stunning Tourbograph Pour le Merite that comes boasting of an extraordinary diamond decoration.

It took the two creative minds a very intricate design to incorporate 40 carats of baguette diamonds in the watch, where the bracelets itself has been consituted from 175 ices. Both the case as well as the bracelet have been crafted in platinum with a very elaborate settin around the lugs and bezel. Originally conceived by A. Lange & Sohne in cooperation with Swiss complications specialist Renaud & Papi, this Calibre L903.0 is manually-wound. It comprises 45 jewels and more than 1,000 individual parts,  each of which has been finished by hand to reflect the traditions of traditional Saxon fine watchmaking.

Baguette diamonds have also found their way into the case flanks and the chronograph pushpieces as well as the winding crown that bears the A.Lange & Sohne signature. We are talking about the creations of French jewelry designer Philippe Tournaire who like to work architectural inspirations on 18 K gold and platinum rings. As unusual as it may sound, the rings will impress you with their novelty.

We hear that this venture is the result of a collaboration between the Japanese jeweler Nagahori and Universal Music to celebrate its 10th commemorate album.
