The Wright Auction House in Chicago will be a busy one on October 6 as it will make the best of efforts to remind potential buyers of a certain period in the 90s that they loved so much. And the same is symbolified by Philippe Starck’s creations that were custom tailored for Ian Schrager for the Paramount and Royalton boutique hotels in Manhattan. Let us remind you that when these were unveiled almost a decade ago, everybody’s jaws droppped because nothing of this kind was ever witnessed before.
The good news is that some of the very same and very original furniture by Starck will be auctioned off. Buyers will agree that the avant-garde designs by the man available in the markets today are tamed, which is just why the auction is a great way to capture the artists’s wild creativity from this early days.

Move over modular kitchens, modular homes and modular furniture. It’s time for a modular, err…shower. Displayed at North America’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair 2009, also popularly known as ICFF, was Philippe Starck’s modular shower system for Axor.
The modular shower made its official debut at the fair. It’s the most modern of bathroom fittings that have grown to become more and more glamourised over the years. Axor Starck Shower Collection is designer based, easy to fix, and has a building block system to create shower from individual parts, that can be freely combined.
Its overhead Axor Starck ShowerHeaven actually pours water from its 28 square inch fixture in a way, that you feel rain soaking you wet! Read More

Philippe Starck has designed the Haaa!!! and Hooo!!! lamps which are as ridiculously priced as they are named. The Haaa!!! is a large floor lamp and the Hooo!!! is a small table lamp. Both the lamps come with white LED and hand made Bacarat crystal elements.
There will be a limited edition of 9 Haaa!!! lamps and 49 Hooo!!! lamps. Haaa!!! would cost $119,250 and Hooo!!! would cost $11,925. I think it is part of a larger joke these designers have come up with on the face of the consumers who are always ready to buy anything that is tagged in a very expensive manner.

When you first take a look at the Zikmu, it is hard to think of anything technical about this speaker. Sleek and divinely beautiful for a speaker, it becomes hard to turn our eyes away from its polished layer to actually consider its functionality.
Designed by Philippe Starck for Parrot, the Zikmu speakers connect with each other via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and provide you with 360 degree NXT surround sound. It can even be connected to your system or you can connect phones and iPods using the dock on top of the speakers to play your music. The towering design of the Zikmu speakers places it at the ideal position to listen to some good music when you are sitting down. Parrot CEO Henri Seydoux and Starck insist that the design may go out of style but the amazing sounds quality will drive our attention to it.

The new Parrot wireless speakers were finally unveiled yesterday after an impatient wait by gadget geeks. Designed by Phiippe Starck, Zikmu is a wireless speaker that features a dock for iPods and iPhones.
The speakers connect via Bluetooth and are capable of 360 degree surround sound. Standing at 2.5 feet, the speakers are ideal for listening to music while lounging comfortably. Designer Starck claims that the 3D feel of the vibration caused by the speakers will be palpable to the user giving it a humanlike presence. Even if this is a bizarre exaggerartion, the speakers are certainly uber cool in design.

Folks, you might feel like flying high after this installed Jet but don’t mistake by considering it as any supersonic jumbo jet or UFO. Even to my much surprise, it is a house designed by Jérôme Olivet, who considers the great Philippe Starck, without whom this creation won’t have been possible. Dubbed as Jet House, a very glimpse of the house would convey the vibes that it is moving fast despite its stationary nature.

Its even molded tangible configuration is connected to a clanging structure pad, tethering its heaving form to the earth for a long time.

Dive into the picture gallery and feel the stay in this two-story structure, attached by an elevator. Olivet style of designing looks no less than “biomorphic,” its ethereal shapes are so curved and aerodynamic, it has a soothing effect. Perhaps, any engineer would agree that building rounded shape costs more expensive.

I am just hoping that whoever would add reality element to this glorious house near the sea should erect it accordingly that it demands a worthy and budgeted cost.
