Hyde Park Antiques in New York is selling a pair of exquisite Regency rosewood and Parcel Gilt game tables. And when we say ‘exquisite’ we totally mean ‘exquisite’!

Each of these tables have a rectangular top that has been lined with leather to make for a real classy gaming surface. We are quite taken up by the boldly craved acanthus edges that yell royal luxury in your face, and tell you very frankly, no one seems to mind it. And then there is a peneled frieze set between the foliate-carved corbels.

The square structure has quite a strong support from its base that has foliate scrolls applied with rosettes all over the quadripatite plinth base on gilt foliate-scroll that form the feet. The price tag is huge at $80,000. Even if you are not much into games, this one will be a great addition to your home deor. The dimensions are 28.5″ h x 18″ d x 36″ l.

It has universally been agreed upon that the NYC real estate scene is a little more than unusual. But this once, we require residents who have no fear of claustrophobia as perhaps the skinnier townhouse in the place goes up for sale. The New York Design Week’s Future Perfect was one cool exhibition. It had many American designers showcasing some of their most unique innovations. The likes of Lindsey Adelman, Jason Miller, Carlos Salgado of Scrapile and Joel Voisard were some of the names who took an active part in this event. Indeed, they put their best foot forward.

But to be fair, it was Lindsey Adelman’s rather knotty Bubble series that took everyone’s fancy. It has an innovative pendant and table/floor lamp made from hand blown glass which is later dipped in 23 K gold and has hand-dyed ropes for the lamp’s suspension.

Jason Miller was another one to grab some attention with his Wooly Chair and its prehistoric attractiveness. Made from bison hide, the chair gets its support from brass legs. There were many who did not like the look of the caveman chair and so moved on to see the gorgeous table Deluxe put together with re-purposed wood remnants. The Box Cart by Joel Voisard was also a hit.

While check-in, each visitor is asked for a credit card in return of which a wristwatch-sized electronic bracelet is given (blue for men, pink for ladies). The watertight bracelet mechanically opens individual lockers for one’s shoes and clothes. Visitors then clad themselves in a spa uniform to go upstairs to the co-ed sauna and restaurant floors. The place offers separate changing rooms for the upstairs co-ed pools.

It features two large outdoor pools flooded with water jets and bubble jets aiming at massaging your every body part. You would be glad to know that besides sun bath, it offers you a pool with integrated hot tub. It also offers facility of typical steam rooms and saunas downstairs for men and women.

There is also a possibility of taking a facial in a private booth or a massage with a view of the locality. The food court at sauna floor offers a salad bar, a sushi bar, hamburgers and French fries, Starbucks coffees and Haagen Dazs ice cream. Whilst the top floor of the Korean restaurant serves you with meat and noodle main courses, with countless other dishes for about $12. Developed and designed by architect and owner Steve Chon, almost $25 million was spent upon its construction and is hoping to install another 19 with next one in Dallas.

Auction reports from Sotheby’s reveal that a cubist oil painting by 20th century French artist Fernand Leger generated sales of $39.2 million on 7 May at New York based auction. The pre-auction estimate for the 1912-1913 painting, “Study for a Woman in Blue,” was $35 million to $45 million. The conceptual arithmetical painting portrays a woman in a blue dress seated at a table with her hands in her lap.

Another painting that has set an artist record is Edvard Munch’s (munk) 1902 “Girls on a Bridge” as it got sold off for $30.8 million against its pre-sale guesstimate of $24-$28 million.
