Blancpain will officially release their previously announced Blancpain 500 Fathoms timepiece at The International Boat Show in Cannes, which will begin from September 9-14, 2009. In addition to this, Balncpain will also release a special limited edition version of the Blancpain 500 Fathoms watch to celebrate the event. These limited edition watches feature a specially engraved caseback.

The 500 Fathoms’ rotor gives you a propeller shape along with a hand perlage polish on it. The titanium case is 48mm wide. However, the case may be somewhat prone to scratches. So, you will have to pay enough attention to it. The rotating diver’s bezel has a sapphire crystal over it. The caliber 1315 movement is very accurate.

Reports from Wealth Bulletin reveal that Geneva-based renowned watchmaker Urwerk has produced a revolutionary timepiece that they claim to be the world’s hardest timepiece, the 103.08 TiAlN. The timepiece is layered with a Titanium Aluminum Nitride minus a coating less than 4 microns thick and a good deal lighter than gold and platinum. At the same time it is more than 5.5 times harder than steel. Nearly unbreakable, the watch is basically resistant to scrapes, shocks, corrosion and even acids. They take pride producing such a masterpiece, as this is the first one to use the coating.

Bathed in rose gold, the limited edition watch would bite you with a demanding price of $70,000. The angled edges of Urwerk’s autograph “orbiting hour satellites” enables you to view time without rotating your wrist. It’s named after Urwerk, an ancient city in southern Mesopotamia, one of the most primitive known cultures in the history of the world.
