Wars have always taken lives of many innocent men, women and children. The instruments of wars have always been men too, and these foot soldiers and the cavaliers or the horse riders bore the brunt of violence more than the civilians. During the World War I most men sent to fight wars died almost within a week of joining the army in the trenches. The novel “Fly Away Peter” is a tale that follows the life of Jim, an ornithologist who goes to fight in the World War I in France. He dies. Alan Somerville is an Australian sculptor who has created the Light Horse Soldier sculpture in bronze. These horsemen from Australia fought in the Middle East as well, where they died of exhaustion and violence.

This sculpture reminds you of the futility of war and he thousands of innocent men who died in the name of valour and patriotism. Unfortunately, they were all pawns under corrupt lieutenants and politicians who waged wars insanely for no reason and sacrificed the lives of millions of young soldiers. There is something really cool about robot and maybe that is because of the influence of movies and pop culture which have always been fascinated by all things that are rooted in science fiction. While robots are no more science fiction and a part of reality, Croatian artist Robert Matysiak has designed these cool Robot Lamps using just plumbing supplies.

The lamps are nuiquely designed and come in many different shapes and sizes. Each of these robots that are made from pipes etc, come with bulbs and they make it look rather avant-garde. The plumbing hardware are rigid and quite unchangeable but the Croatian designer has made sure each Robot Lamp has a character of its own.

It is a great way to teach your children that robots were once a part of fictitious world and only now have they entered everyday lives. I would love to get these Robot Lamps myself, and it would really look good in your living room or anywhere else. In fact, if you are a video game fan, you would love these lamps as they would certainly set the ambience for playing video games based on science fiction plots.

Now, the ffw Mag! from Brazil has done a cover story about military menswear. This issue’s story dwells on the eroticism that is present in military life and amongst the soldiers themselves. The military menswear story was inspired by Butt & Kaiserin, and the photographer Gui Paganini has done a great job in driving people to grab those military inspired jackets the moment they see the pictures. In fact, army has influenced fashion so much and it could be because of the ongoing wars all around the world.

The photographer has tried to cajole most men to try military fashion and almost get them addicted to military fetishes. Many haute couture labels like Versace, Dolce & Gabanna, DKNY and others have concentrated on military menswear and it is a great thing indeed. As they say, a man in uniform is always more attractive than the rest of them. So go ahead and visit the nearest haute couture department store and grab some hot military inspired cloths.

Inesa Malafej and Arunas Sukarevicius from Lithuania must love music and have a great body. The designers must love their musk so much that they can’t stop listening to music while running or working out. They have lunched the cool Dancepants Kinetic Music Player which generates electricity when you run which is in turn used by the mp3 player.

So long as you are running, you will have the mp3 player playing. If you stop running you may end up not being able to listen to music. It is an amazing idea I must say. When you are in the park, you could jog for many minutes and listen to your favourite music all along. Just make sure you hear if someone is calling out your name from behind. The MP3 player can be easily kept in your pockets.

The kinetic energy is converted from your feet when you are running and that electricity helps you to listen to music. I somehow don’t get the idea of this product as the music would stop once you stop running. What if you had to stop for a minute to catch breath and would not like to the music to stop playing? I guess you need to carry an iPod as well. So much for going green!

It is now the world’s 4th most expensive estate and it is still no way cheap if you asked me. If you have that kind of money, I would say buy yourself an Island off the Scottish coast and another near Tahiti. When you need sun and the sand, you could visit Tahiti and when you need gloom and snow, you could go to Scotland. You would still be left with many millions to buy an apartment in Monaco. Why waste on a single expensive mansion?

I know, it sounds like a Photoshop gimmick that just made its way onto the net, but when we double checked this claim it turns out that it actually is true! So, there are many car fanatics across the globe (millions) and many others who specifically love the Porsche, but surely none can compete with the sheer craziness of Gil Dezer. This dud was wacky enough (and we mean that in a real good way) to actually take the help of a crane, go through plenty of trouble and let go of a driving option to put a 1950 Porsche Spyder 550 on the top of his 8,000-square-foot condo! And when you look at it, it does look like the work of Spiderman; just that there are no strings attached!

It took an entire team of technicians, a crane and plenty of modifications to get the Spyder 550 up there and now Gil can control its headlights and horn from a touchscreen placed besides the door. Cool and crazy at the same time Gil could obviously afford to hang a car for as an indoor decorative as he own another 7 Porsches too (We told you he was a fanatic!)

While obviously there are many across the globe who own a fleet of cars, none have tried this before making Gil and his condo damn special. So, the day yours truly can afford to but 4 or 5 Ferraris, he will try and emulate Gil… I did say try…

The Emotion Lab are a group of designers from 3 different continents and 3 different countries: from Mexico, Spain and Australia. They design concepts that seek to provoke emotions and that which are influenced by diverse cultures around the world. Such a stand always commits to the relevance of the design and that is perhaps what makes them really cool.

Their latest offering is the Room Cone which is part of their Inside Urban Collection. It is inspired by the witches’ hats, which communicate with [people around them. These “witches’ hats” tell people to move away, to not step somewhere and to be careful. Sweating with urban energy, the Room Cone can be used an ambient light source and can be installed outdoors or indoors.

It works even in windy conditions and you could use it to hold parties around it. It looks good in the garden, if you asked me and you could talk about how you managed to not step into the manhole thanks to one of those good ol’ Witch Hats. I would say, get one of these if they are available commercially. They look really chic!
