In some strange way, designed by artist Soomi Park, the LED eyelashes have been intended to compensate `Asian women’s’ desire for bigger eyes. It is rather unlikely that wearing LEDs instead of the delicate eye-lashes would enhance the size of eyes at all. More so, would women really go in for something so artificial even if their urge to get bigger eyes is strong?

An effort of this nature would have been appreciated if put up in an art gallery as a strong statement the artist wanted to express, or to depict an out-of-box theatric character. It looks too far-fetched take it beyond a Halloween party, the least as a statement of beauty.


The lashes are attached to a tilt sensor so when you tilt your head in specific directions, the lashes light up. Sounds toyish, somewhat like those kids’ shoe lights that glow with a noise when they walk.

With LED displays all set to unseat LCDs, Sharp’s new collection of Aquos LED TV sets will get a red-carpet treatment. The fact that LEDs score above LCDs with respect to low energy consumption is what makes it so much more acceptable in given conditions of Global warming and Eco-consciousness.

Upscale features like advanced pixel control and wider aperture find place here. There is an an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the set to keep wattage to one-third of what LCDs consume. The choice of size runs into four options, starting with 32inches and going until 52 inches. The price too gallops with the size, from $1,100 to to $2,800. Well, if you got to stay ahead of others in lifestyle products, you have to shell out a price for it. But since the company here is Sharp, the price is more or less justified.

So far Mood Walls were only heard of in plush hotel rooms and houses of the super rich. But now, we got to see it in an underpass. Yes, the city of Amsterdam wanted to locate a Mood Wall in a pedestrian tunnel in order to put an extra skip in the short walk through it, there by making the people feel less grumpy. Now, come to think of it there are like a zillion dark and dingy places that could do with some brightening.

This Mood Wall measures 24 meters in length and is made from 2,500 LEDs. The wall has been designed so that it interacts with people as they walk through. Yes, the light responds to movement and it has been found that it actually does have a positive impact on your mood.

Kudos to Amsterdam for coming up with such a colorful idea. By the way, there is a fringe benefit too. When the underpass becomes so full of life, more people would want to include it in their route which will in turn help reduce the anti-social activities of ruffians.

Designer Jacky Wu has behaved smartly by implementing this technology to a skipping rope (jumping rope). They say this sensible device keeps a record of every jump and thus features calories burnt within a particular time period via built-in LEDs.

And as a result you have a chimera with a feel that someone is countering in the mid air. It could be a bit too much for all heavy-weights as it may put them in pitiful situation by keeping a low count of their jumps. Say what may but I strongly doubt this concept turning into reality for obvious reasons. Firstly, the smacking of rope with the ground would disturb the intactness of the LEDs. And fortunately, if they happen to function well then constant rubbing on the ground would offer a blur image to read.

Seekway has put jointly this impressive 3D LED display that has a potential to exhibit images in full 3D at a startling, 30 fps. The sample comprises of a 16 x 16 x 16 network of unified tint LEDs and if calculated accurately then it produces 4096 individual diodes. I am sure it is going to win your heart and mind but believe me a small visit to the video is worth.

Having productively created the aforesaid model, Seekway has plans to enter the mechanism into fabrication, but they’re in a mood to beef up things—by saying you can start imagining a cube equipped with 48 x 48 x 48 grid of interrelated LEDs resonance. It sounds like 11,000 diodes but with no price information available it is difficult to say whether the product is worth picking or is just hyped up.
