You know the best thing about people’s sudden need to go eco friendly? Bicycles are back in style! I never was one for lusting after cars and even though motorbikes are quite cool, nothing can capture the quiet stle of a simple bike. Then again, cycling all the way to work might not be possible so just get yourself a cool electric bike.

When it comes to ‘cool electric bikes’, the latest in that slightly short list is the CMYK Electric Bike. Designed by Manuel Saez, the bike is meant especially for those who are already using public transportation but require another form of transport in transit between commutes. The electric makes this really easy for the user because the bike can be folded away making it easier to carry on the subway, or into the office. a two hour charge of its lihtium batteries will give the user 50 minutes of a much-needed boost.

The snazzy bike has already won second place at the People’s Design Award at NY’s Cooper Hewitt and was much admired at the 2009 Sparks Award. the CMYK Electric Bike will be available from next year at the range of $600 to $800.

Ryan McGinley has designed the Amur Leopard which is an electric bike solution intended to help the woes of Beijing commuters. Electric bikes are usually convenient but have their share of things that piss you off. It is also difficult to carry anything more than yourself, because they have no space.

However, the Amur Leopard has space for your laptop and also navigational and communication devices which are built in. The space is located under the seat and there is enough space for many gadgets to be kept. The bike also runs on electric power and thus is very clean and green. I would have loved to ride this bike, if only it were available where I am right now.

There is also a map device which doubles up as a smart phone and you could access Internet and email. I also like the colour combination of the bike as it is very pleasing and comforting to the eyes. I would say, grab it if you get it! Vote for it at James Dyson Award entry.

With the state the environment is in right now, it appears that he biggest selling strategy is the creation of eco-friendly products. Often enough, though, a product is touted as being a boon to the environment much more than it actually is.

The electric bike, Enertia, is being promoted by Best Buy since the 21st of May of this year as an extremely eco-friendly commuter bike. The bike was launched by the company since they had already invested $10 million in the firm Brammo which manufactures the bike. The Enertia has a top speed if 55mph and a 45 mile range and requires charging for only 3 hours at a time. The bike certainly doesn’t look very great but may be attractive to those looking for an eco-friendly buy.

The Enertia is being sold for $12,000 but since most people who shop at Best Buy cannot afford to buy a bike at that range, it appears that the promotion of the bike is only being done as a means of getting more clients interested enough to enter the shop. Talk about great advertising!

Richard Gryzch got really tired of going to the gas station to fill his bike every time. In fact he started hating it so much that he decided to mod a bike himself to run on solar and electric power. He also was not convinced of the idea about going to get a cool electric bike already available in the market.

His modded bike comes covered in solar panel and can reach a speed of about 90 miles per hour. It also has a range of 50 miles which he plans to increase to 300 miles. It is not clear of the bike is 100 percent solar but it certainly is a great a bike and looking at the way it works, we can say that it is really green and eco friendly.

I guess it is always nice to mod our own bikes instead of spending a lot of money on them, and buying something off the showroom. There is no information about either the price or availability.

Bike aficionados stay with bated breath for cool bikes to make an appearance and never miss one. Check out the latest super motorcycle on the track. The 2009 Zero S Electric Supermoto has a sleek design that invites true bikers to jump on it and immediately take it for a ride.

The electric bike has a 4kWh battery which needs only four hours of recharge time for the bike to cruise 60 miles. The bike has a chassis made from aircraft grade aluminium and with a low center of gravity and aerodynamic design. With 62.5lb of torque and 31bhp, the bike has better acceleration and improved maneuverability as well. Shark tooth break rotors, foot actuated and hand actuated breaks increase safety in the bike and reduces the risks. The Zero S Electric Supermoto is also fitted with projector beam headlight for focused light, and the dash gives information on speed, charge and motor temperature.

The 2009 Zero S electric supermoto may sound like a dream but will cease being so when it comes into production next month. The Zero S is priced at $9,950 with an extra $500 for shipping charges.

We have all known how important it is to use bikes and vehicles that are good to look at and also good for the environment. Here is a clean and green bike which goes by the name of Movito. Movito is an electric scooter which recently won top honors in NASA’s design contest. It was designed by Tai Chiem, and it runs on a carbon-cutting electric motor which is ‘in-wheel’. This is a futuristic prototype and it consists of two modular parts.

The design itself looks amazingly sleek and chic, and you wouldn’t know that it is also packed with green technology. In a world that is consumed by pollutants and other suspended material, it becomes almost mandatory to have a vehicle that is green and friendly.

In my opinion, Movito Scooter is the right choice if you were looking for a great two wheeler. However, there is no information about its price or availability.

Ever wondered what it is like to own one of the coolest bike ever? Well, if you would waqnt to know how it feels, you must try and check out Brammo’s Enertia. Enertia will be sold by Best Buy and will be available in one of the five West Coast stores. Brammo also has some more cool bikes in store for crazed bikers like us and one of them is a two seater model that will be sold worldwide.

Enertia now comes with a 45 mile range and has a max speed of about 53 miles per hour. It uses a lithium ion phosphate batery which has been manufactured by Valence Technology. This bike looks powerful but is a clean and green bike which you would not feel guilty after riding.

I would say, when it is available just go ahead and buy it! Bikes are always nice to ride when they are ridden with a guilt free mind.

Bike enthusiasts keep their ears constantly glued to the grapevine in hopes of being the first to hear about a new bike making the rounds. For long, ardent fans of bikes have been hearing about the Mission One EV and waiting impatiently to ctch sight of it. Finally, their prayers have been answered.

The electric sports bike by Mission Motors has made its first appearance at the Technology, Entertainment, Design conference. Mission One EV has been designed by Yves Béhar and anyone who has even the slightest interest in bikes would agree that the design is a winning entry. Not on the flashy side, Mission One EV impresses with minimalistic designing and the stats. The bike can hit a top speed of 150mph and estimated range of 150 miles. Mission One EV is already in production, marketed by Forrest North and co-founders Edward West and Mason Cabot. The first 50 of the bikes will hit the market in 2010 as part of a Limited Edition model priced at $68,995 each. A more affordable version of the Mission One would be announced this summer.

Mission One EV will make its racing debut at the TTXGP on June 12th. Until then, you can drool over the pictures of the Mission One EV.

MOTOrepublic is an awesome electric bike concept that wows everyone with its unique technology and ergonomics. The bike will have zero emissions and even lesser noise, if that is even possible. The MOTOrepublic is designed to be a race bike and the fact that racing is usually associated with the red necks in rural areas, the company has taken every initiative to make sure the urban people like it as well.

The motorcycle is designed to be free of any internal combustion constraints. The look is pretty cool and the technology is rather awesome too. However, when the bike will be mass manufactured is a question that the designers would like to know as well. The problem with awesome concepts is that they usually remain concepts and never see the light of the day in some bike showroom.

The designers are looking for funding so if you have more money than Bill gates, you could donate a little and get the bike manufactured not only for you but for the hundreds of us who would also ride this bike, without creating any noise or emissions.
