We think luxury breeds luxury. And we do not mean it in an infestation sort of a way! It’s simple that luxury impresses one enough to acquire more luxury. Take fine champagne for instance. A nice and exclusive bottle of your favorite fizzy wine easily deserves to be served in the right kind of glass and in a fine champage bowl. This article focuses on the latter.

Brand Christofle has set out to bring to you the extra large champagne bowl that has been made in hand, and spectacularly so too. This one is definitely a collector’s item. Called the Extra Large Champagne Bowl (yeah, now that name’s far from innovative but the bowl definitely is) this one is being sold under the name Christofle Belle Epoque. We are told that this creation is the baby of the collaboration between the two maisons.

Credit for the eloquent design goes to Emile Galle who created it in 1902. No wonder, this piece is so valuable. The extraordinary art work deserves to be impressed upon our memories for life. You bet, this one comes expensive.

Have you ever see things? I mean, see things, and hallucinate things? If you had not, I have visualized my book shelf to be sometimes metamorphing into a display when I wanted. I guess someone had the same idea and the Stuff Your Stuff Theater Set has been unveiled.

The cool product is brought to you by Pottery Barn and it costs $1299. It is built well and comes with a screen and also space to hide your books. This way, you would end up hiding all the books and such unwanted things and when you need, you could get the screen out and play Rock band!

I am sure you would love to watch Rock Band play on your Book Shelf wouldn’t you? I would however hesitate buying this as it costs so much. $1,300 is a lot of money, to be spent on a book shelf. If you have that kind of money, you could certainly buy!

It is always nice to have great storage spaces which conform to your needs and also make space for everything the way they need to be stored. The UM Modules has been designed by Colgate Searle and it is an awesome storage and display module. With the help of this module you not only can store, but you can also display ware, and stuff.

You can keep photographs, books, shoes and what not! Interior sleeves are very flexible and users can add, remove as they please. UM means Users & Makers. They used blank frames and the users can go ahead and use it the way they want.

It is actually being touted as the open source of furniture. They look so beautiful that I am already tempted to buy them. In my opinion, you should contact the designers and get them as soon as possible as that would help you save space, order things around and also show off all your stuff!

“Flex OLED” screen from Sony has been displayed at the CES 2009. It is a flexible OLED screen, which might be used in portable devices of the future. It measures a few inches across and is capable of being bent slightly even while the device is functioning slightly as in when it is playing a video.

Sony’s flexible OLED display is the first time making an appearance outside Sony’s research labs. The technology is still very new but has witnessed a tremendous improvement since the time Sony showed a demo back in May 2007 of a similar screen in a video. In 2007 display, Sony generated a lot of unwanted criticisms as they were criticized for their technical defects and issues. Most of theses problems have been rectified in this new display. Companies do seem to have a great faith in OLED’s successful future for the OLED technology. OLEd’s main rivalry as of now is LED, which is a promising technology that is quite powerful as compared to the technology used in existing plasma and LCD panels.

In case you are wondering as to when you might get to use OLED technology on large TVs and displays then. it may take a while from now for it to become real.

Here is good news for computer freaks. Arizona State University’s Flexible Display in collaboration with HP has announced a prototype of a lightweight computer screen recently. These new computer screens come with great features such as they are printed on virtually indestructible plastic sheets. They also use less energy and cost effective when it comes to produce conventional screens.

Apparently, ASU’s Flexible Display Center has been working on flexible display technology in partnership with corporation including the US Army. On the other hand, HP has been an innovator in terms of manufacturing many electronic technologies such as the prototype – Self-Aligned Imprint Lithography (SAIL). This was invented at HP Labs. There are more reasons to celebrate for these flexible displays. They not only lower the cost of monitors, but also allow the invention of more advanced and smaller electronics, as in electronic paper. This assures that devices like phones, PDAs, handheld readers, MP3 players, etc, will become smaller and lightweight besides becoming more user friendly.

It would indeed be fun to be able to read magazine on a handheld device without having to bear the brunt of scrolling around to read the whole article. With this, you have the freedom to stash an electronic book into your bag safely.

Designed by Japanese IT group Kayac, in association with researchers from Keio University in Japan, the system eavesdrops and detects what’s going inside via voice recognition and project the germane statistics on your center table. Called “Kage roi,” the system identifies keywords and search for them, thereby providing a steady stream to each person sitting at the desk.

Outfitted with countless tinted LEDs, the room is capable of altering the lighting effect to reproduce different moods. The half day form replicates the steady shift in illumination as the sun rises and sets making the one seated on the conference table realize the passage of time and meet their deadlines.

On first look, you may sense the robotic affect attached to the table and a hope to your long query if robot can rule the world?

The yearly Kips Bay Decorator Show House started in New York on 24 April and will run through 22 May. To my utter surprise, around 22 designers would be using this as a platform and are provided with six apartments at The Manhattan House, 200 East 66th Street to participate in the Kips Bay Decorator Show House. For the first time in the history of 36 years, the show is being held in an apartment building rather than a town house. In coming days I would be updating you with designer credits. Tickets for the show would cost you $30.

Some interesting stuff direct from 2008 Kips Bay Decorator Show:

An Audi-design prototype chandelier hangs above a table in the Daniel Boulud kitchen. Also, the artwork of Caceres + Miranda designed by Geoffrey Bradfield is quite interesting. Simon Horn crib, configured here for a toddler, sits on display in a children’s room designed by Bograd Kids. A teak torso of drawers with superimposed silver breeds luxury. The BKH-designed living rooms, modern furniture, including a Vladimir Kagan sofa are amongst the attraction of the Show House.

A Vic Muniz drawing of chef Daniel Boulud hung in a Kitchen designed by Daniel Boulud and Rita-Louisa Garces.

The wavering 60’s chicks room, designed by Ellen Ward Scarborough Ltd. Is mind blowing. Sculpture by Jean Arp (R) features well in a therapist’s room designed by S. Russell Groves. Another elite attraction was chairs designed by Stephen Miller Siegel which have upholstered in horsehair fabric. Lastly, a bedroom suite designed by White Webb is worth a pick.

Designer Lei Liu has put his thought upon giving form to an elite city car concept that would offer a stress-free ride even amidst jammed roads and digging space for itself in tight parking lots. Called Airwaves, this miniature coupe does away with the tension of bearing the awful jams and freeing you from the risk of dents and scratches. Instead of hinging outward, its electronic door spins upright to avert others being “doored”.

Besides considering the safety of its passangers, it gives equal amount of attention to other commuters on the road. The backside of Airwaves features LCD screen that keeps the onlookers engaged during traffic jams with useful information displayed related to weather reports, news or greeting words from the driver.

This people friendly car gives a deserving trinute to environment as well by making 0% emissions. I think you would agree with me that the safety of small cars is really important; therefore an accessibility of the special lift mechanism in Airwaves can offer good safeguard for the driver, passengers and pedestrians. It workd like this: The minute driver uses emergency brake, the car hits pedestrian and the cabin will lift up by inertia. During that hour, the outside and inside airbags will be unconfined to defend the people inside and outside.
