The MINI Cooper S is surely the car of the young and the restless with its superb design and a performance that matches the style. The 1.6 liter powered car accelerates from 0 to 100 in just 7.1 seconds and has a top speed of very impressive 225 km/h. Yet, it was not a package that was satisfying to designer and artist Marco Mehne and so he set about altering the Mini Cooper S to suit his style. So he created the MINI Cooper S in space-frame style with 20 hand paint jobs, three finishes and 40,000 Swarovski crystals to adorn its surface.
The new MINI thus created is a show in grand spectacle and a work of art that is subtle and stylish. The car had plenty of input put into it by Marco and his creative team and painting on such a space-frame styled body was far more difficult than imagined. Yet Marco put in time, effort and plenty of creativity to convert this into a moving work of art. The 40,000 Swarovski crystals that it sports further add to the bling of this special car.
The car is all set to make its grand debut and steal the spotlight at a VIP event on the opening of the fair Heim + Handwerk, 28 November 2008 in Munich. There is no doubt that when Marco’s work steps out in front of all, it will be the star of the show. This might one day go away in an auction for plenty, but the art work put on it is simply priceless!

If someone wanted to call the Scythe a giant ‘Hot Wheels’ replica, then I would have absolutely no problem endorsing that view. Despite all the hoopla around it and the amount of time, energy and money invested by the folk at GAS, this still looks like an over-grown toy car with no real look and personality. If it has any personality, then it seems more hideous than nice. The Scythe sports a handmade composite body and voice-activated on-board computer system and a twin-supercharged 1,005 horsepower engine. It even has two steering wheels and that seems to make all the wonderful features more odd.
