There has been a spurt of designing sprees which have revealed man’s eternal need to save space. This peek-a-boo coffee table here is one such design that appears simple and small, but actually hides a lot within. It appears like a small box over which you can lay down a few magazines and some coffee mugs. But slowly when you stretch the table from either ends, it reveals far more complex shelves and even an area where you can have your dinner set laid.

The bright orange coloured dinner set area on the inside of the coffee table is a rude shock to people who think the table is quaint and simple. The table consists of many inner shelves to keep your magazines, food, and even perhaps wine if you are clever enough to accommodate.

Perhaps this is the best example of how you can design furniture that is suited to modern space constraint facing situations. It has been made of Baltic birch plywood and is called the “peek-a-boo” coffee table. At $500, it is pretty expensive but worth every dime you spend on it.

The best thing about living in cold regions is the change it brings to interior decoration. The house may be as cold as a witch’s nose but it gives one the opportunity to build a fireplace that would lend the home character and a feeling of being lived-in. For a lot of people, though, the soot that comes with a fireplace ruins the experience.

Planika offers the solution, and in much style. Planika fires are fuelled by Fanola, a strange green liquid that gives rise to odourless and smokeless fires. The eco friendly fuel makes it possible for you to have a fireplace in just about any place indoors which means it is no wonder that Planika offers coffee tables with fire pits. Sitting down for a romantic dinner, you need not bother with candles streaming hot wax over your silverware. Just start a fire right in the middle of your table.

A huge range of extremely stylish tables with fire pits are available from Planika, so you can be sure to find one that fits perfectly into the decor of your house. The latest range of fireplaces from Planika are for outdoor use, but then you could just buy the indoor table and move it outside when you need to.

Backgammon is a lovely game for two players where they play on the board using dices. It has a romantic touch to it if played at the right place in the right ambience. If that was what you were looking for, you must try the Gold Rush Backgammon designed by Emmanuel David.

He has been a collector of backgammon tables for almost 20 years and he designed the Gold Rush for the exclusive Hotel Fouquet in Paris. It can also be used as a coffee table and is adorned with gold leaves. They are fixed on the transparent surface and would make sure you not only enjoy your coffee but also your game of Backgammon.

There are going to be only 4 pieces and each would cost $19,930. If you happen to be visiting Paris, do visit that hotel to get a glimpse of the lovely backgammon table. I am sure you would want to buy one for yourself.

Yoann Henry Yvon is a great designer as we already know. He had designed the cool Marguerite Bike Rack which has been well appreciated across the design community. This young designer is back again with an elegant and chic coffee table called the Reverence Coffee Table.

It provides a sort of optical illusion and is a great piece of furniture for those who are looking for something more than just the ordinary coffee table. He has used the Chinese paper cut art to create this wonderful table. He has designed just one piece and in case you are looking for more or would like to know the price you would have to contact the designer himself.

He tries to draw a balance between the ancient paper cut art and the modern furniture design. He comes out more successful than many others! I would love to have one of these tables in my hall and the guests and friends would always be impressed!

The Swedish furniture maker Batt has always given us unique items to suit our modern decor. In fact, the man has designed some super cool custom racing yachts from time to time to participate in the America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race. And it’s been almost 22 years since he first started on this job. So you can well imagine the amount of research and experience that must be going into all of his creations.

Batt’s company BCL has recently developed a Ying Yang Coffee Table made exclusively in carbon fiber. And so it has a carbon fiber laminated top with firm standing on a sturdy MDF frame. We like the stylish ying yang logo made in unidirectional fibers sitting atop the table. These fibers have different orientations to reflect light differently.

Look at the logo very close and you will even see a 200 grams worth of carbon fiber woven cloth. Talk of being unique! eBay is selling this one at a price of $700 with extra 200 bucks thrown in for shipping purposed to the US.

They add a sense of style and richness to your home, provided you have selected the right coffee table and have the dough for that luxury.

This coffee table with a glass top stands at 8o cm measuring a width of 100 cm. But of course, that is not what is special about it. All the beauty of the table is in its legs. Made from mammoth-ivory, the legs are intricately carved completely by hand. The glass top appears to sit on the back of a whale fish attached to circular carved rings. The carving on the ivory legs is amazingly detailed and the whale appears fascinating, frozen in the pose of a relaxed dive.

Mammoth ivory is not a banned product like elephant ivory since it is a fossil ivory. Not surprisingly, the table is up for sale at the exuberantly high price of $300,000. You have a choice between getting this table for yourself or making one with chicken bones.

Not enough seems to have been said and done about iPhones. The i has taken the world over by storm, even infiltrating into the tourism industry when the world’s first iHotel was launched this year. Now it appears as though the iPhone has managed to get itself into the world of furniture.

The iLounge Coffee Table looks like a humongous version of an iPhone and looks great enough to fit right in place at any office (I’m guessing it would look its best at an Apple office). Made from corrugated cardboard, the impression of the iPhone has been stuck over the surface of this simple wooden coffee table giving it the glory of becoming the world’s very first iPhone Coffee Table. Created by iLounge readers Tuan Nguyen and Ken Thomas, the table has detachable icons which douible up as coasters.

The iPhone Coffee Table may not have Bluetooth connection, MMS or even make phone calls, but it makes for a great looking table. Even if this innovative idea didn’t come to me first, I’m going to look so iCool sipping coffee at this table.

We at EliteChoice had made you familiarize with different forms of table viz. multitouch table, walking table and various coffee tables as well i.e. self-destructibe coffee table, Retro coffee table by Calligaris plus many others. Each one has a different mood attached to it.

The one in news is the best version ever that can be designed in coffee table series. And thanks to Kyle Downes for developing a retro-tastic NES controller. Take a peep into its sleek lines that reflect high quality finish and classy glass top. And you have every right to snigger at the detail that it actually functions. Pinch yourself as it really does. Go ahead and check out the video:

Kyle was neck-deep into this for long months putting this together, opening with an inspected image of his original NES control. He simply scaled up by vigilantly crafting each piece out of MDF and chopping his own electrics onto a broken old controller board. The glass top offers a final touch; thereby offering a shield to those giant buttons along with a lot of storage space. Agreed, it’s not the high-end of the technology series but deserves its fall in the elite class. I simply loved it.
