The year end will witness famous auction house Bonhams conduct a very rare sale of luxury watches that belong to the private collection of the Porsche Family. The name of the event to be held at New Bond Street is ‘Fine Watches & Wristwatches’. And you can safely expect some of the best creations ever in the world of uber rich timepieces here.

A very unique auction, it will feature pieces by Eterna, Porsche Design, Panerai, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre, Breitling, Eberhard, Omega and Chronoswiss. In other words, every brand that you ever loved will be pretty much under this one roof. The high point of the event will be an 18 carat gold chronograph by Eterna that has an estimated price bracket of £4000-6000. This one was presented to Dr. Ferdinand Oliver Porsche on his 40th birthday celebration.
Again, there is also one spectacular watch called Porsche Design that is known for its different dial designs and it carries an estimated price of £1800-2200. Do look out for Porsche Design prototypes, the Dashboard PTR-Titan Rattrapante, Rolex Explorer II and Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Polaris.

Watch genius Severin Wunderman indeed lived life king size. After all he is the man who built the Gucci watch brand. His eight-bedroom townhouse in the Chelsea part of London grabbed headlines last year. And haven’t we heard so much about his Corum and other interesting images that he possessed. Come September 30, and his collection of furniture, paintings and several obejects from his house will go on sale at Bonhams London.

All this is being done for a good cause as the proceeds will be directed to the Severin Wunderman Family Foundation that supports research on incurable diseases.

Wunderman had a very fine taste in life. He would collect a range of things from walking canes to images of Napoleon to even skulls. As a matter of fact, one of the rooms in his townhouse is actually referred to as the Napoleon room. Interested buyers will also let you take a peek at all the stuffs in Wunderman’s drawing room. We have taken a likin to the Charles X style walnut and parcel gilt day bed that is supported by swans. The estimated price is between €810 and 1,200.

Vintage cars are one of the few things that can demand any price and get it too. In fact, many a times there is a tough call deciding which higher price option to opt for! This time around, Bonham’s auction house is conducting its inaugural annual “Weekend de l’Excellence Automobile” in Reims on September 26. And we are told that a very exclusive 1912 model from Bugatti will be the high point of the auto affair.

The car has had the privilege of Ettore Bugatti as one its drivers at Le Mans and the Mont Ventoux Hill Climb. Other esteemed owners of this classic car also include the Duke of Bavaria and the UK-based classic car engineer Nigel Arnold-Forster. Relying on that very fact it has quoted a price of $3.4 million at the auction.

The Bugatti dreamboat is a two-seater with a 5-liter “Type 18″ is one of the three surviving machines that were originally manufactured by Ettore. Also, there is more than just Bugatti at Reims which will also feature a 1937 Merc Benz 540 K Cab. C and a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTS convertible at “affordable” prices.

The Bonhams Space Sale offers an opportunity for all of us to make our dreams come true by getting a little closer to the Moon. This isn’t accomplished by giving us our own spacesuit and a ticket to the Moon but the Space Sale will auction off pieces of lunar history on the 16th of July this year. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first Moon landing, Bonhams will be auctioning items that were possessions of astronauts or related to lunar missions in some way.

Items up for auction include a colour photograph of the first 7 astronauts which is estimated at $600 to $800, a model of Saturn V estimated at $10,000 to $15,000 and the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Sequence estimated at $125,000 to $175,000. The Space Sale which marks four decades of Neil Armstrong’s landing on the moon is being held in New York.

The historic landing on moon and that famous moment when the stripes and stars unfurled on lunar surface is an image that is etched in the memory of humanity (thanks largely to television, which played it over and over). It seems now that there are more than a few takers for some of the artifacts and items that travelled on the Apollo 11 to accomplish that monumental feat. Organized by the Bonhams, more than 50 items related to the Apollo 11 mission will be offered for sale, and the highlights include check list pages taken by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin as a reference aid on the first manned lunar landing. The price of three of these checklists is expected to be $125,000 and $175,000, but it could be a lot more if some starry-eyed heady bidders get into a battle for the vintage stuff. Also set for auction are a star chart estimated at a value of $ 90,000, an official Apollo 11 crew insignia valued around $ 35,000 and the flight plan of the shuttle that could go for well over $50,000.

Not just these, but other scores of items from that special moment in human history and our first big adventure into space will be up for grabs. For those who love the night sky and the twinkling stars, the event on June 16 is a temptation that is hard to resist!

Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most illustrious celebrations of motoring in the entire United Kingdom. Bonhams has used this occasion to announce an outstanding collection of cars. There would be a slew of luxury racing cars which no one can actually resist. Speed and racing has always been the symbol of the upwardly mobile.

It includes a period-built, and race-prepared competition car called the 1965 Ford GT40 Endurance Racing Coupe. Other cars being sold there include the 1922 Sunbeam 2-litre Strasbourg Grand Prix Works Racing Car, 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I Drophead Coupe, 1931 Bentley 4-Litre Coupe, 1930 Aston Martin International 2/4 1½-Litre and even a 1973 Ferrari 246 GTS Din.

We really can’t fathom the reason behind this rather unexpected occurrence — is it the recession or are people just going ga ga over owing fossils — but come June 1 and a dinosaur skull is going to be up for sale. Yes, the National History auction at Bohams will be featuring a whole range of fossil specimens that shall even include the rare Tyrannosaurid skull. This skull is one of the only four Alioramus skulls to have been discovered so far.

The estimated cost of this so-called tyrant lizard from the age of dinosaurs lies between $120,000- $140,000. A little bit of dope on the dino tells us that its species was found in the Nemegt Formation, Gobi Desert and Central Asia. Alioramus was slender than the infamous T-rex but with a higher tooth count.

The auction also features a Triceratops skull from the Hell Creek Formation, North Dakota which shall fetch anything between $100,000 and $125,000. Other highlights of the event include a large Jurassic Ichthyosaur specimen, an entire petrified wood tree, a very large mammoth tusk as well as a Titanothere skeleton.

All right, we know that Ferrari does not make motorbikes. But can that fact stop us from owning a Ferrari motorbike? Don’t worry, we are not talking crazy. The buzz is that a group of custom cycle makers have come up with the machine on two wheels. Yeah, we know that the Maranello-inspired two-wheeler made by Arlen Ness made a lot of news but in all honesty and fairness, the machine was not very practical. After all, wouldn’t we all like a Ferrari bike that is sporty, can be taken out on the regular roads and also sit pretty in one’s garage!

And the icing on the cake is that Ferrari too agrees. Perhaps that is why the mobike in reference bears the official Ferrari chassis number (SF-01M) and comes in the signature red we all know so well. Designed by David Kay Engineering in 1995, this mobike runs on a DOHC engine with a horsepower of 105 at 8,800rpm displacing 900 cc.

Agreed, you might not like the Testarossa-style strakes on both sides, but nothing is perfect. And if you wondering about the price tag, well we can’t say much until 20th when the auction ends. But what we do know is that the expected price should go around $300K.

A sapphire-and-diamond brooch once worn by legendary musician Elton John while filming his music videos “I don’t wanna go on with you like that,” is all set to go under hammer this week. Designed like a “J,”the art deco piece worn by John in 1988 is now estimated to generate sales of 12,000-15,000 pounds (US$22,330-27,900) at Bonhams auction house in London on 25 September. The 1930s-era brooch features brilliant-cut and baguette-cut diamonds and oval-cut and circular-cut sapphires. The brooch, on sale this autumn at Bonhams, has an estimate value of 12,000-15,000 pounds (US$22,330-27,900).

Other priceless valuables of the scheduled auction include a De Beers 11.03-carat emerald-cut diamond ring that may generate $593,000.
