The Seiko watch company has a convincing tale behind the production of their latest watch viz. the Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk. Unveiled at Baselworld, the model has been designed to endure the intense surroundings of outer space and word is around that Richard Garriott, the sixth private-citizen space explorer would be carrying it while making a trip this fall.

Garriott, a video game designer by profession and son of a NASA astronaut is in a mood to drop $45 million for his trip and wishes to visit the International Space Station, thereby becoming the first private citizen to do a space walk outside of it. He would be wearing the Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk over the spacesuit so the watch can help him survive through zero gravity and a setting where heat can get as low as down beating 22 degrees Celsius. It is light in weight and bears a dial with a Lumibrite conduct for readability. The case is air stiff and is designed using high-intensity titanium. This limited edition watch is available in counted 100 models out of which three would be taken away by Garriott on his October adventure and rest 97 will hit the market in December priced at $25,000.

This has to be categorized as jewelry rather than a time piece. It has a logical reasoning behind it. The purpose of the watch to reflect time doesn’t demand high cost. What made it elite is the 493 top Wesselton “baguette” diamonds that surround the case dial and buckle. Created by Hublot, the One Million Dollar Big Bang watch follows the “serti mysterieux” technique (used in the jewelry creation by Van Cleef & Arpels (Paris) which allows only the visibility of diamonds that dominate the structure holding it, making it invisible).

It uneasy price tag is because of its not-so-easy production. Having invested more than 2,000 hours on its designing through R&D, machine programming, the cutting of the diamonds, setting, casing and fine-tuning; this piece-of-art luxury deserves this commanding price.

Well, does the display of time divulged at Baselworld is marvelous? The question remains open-ended because I haven’t tried it.

Well this is elite Gundam’s Robot (5-inch) can think of residing only in the hearts of elite community. Beyond everyone’s need and affordability, this $250,000 Diamonds and Platinum studded product will make its presence at Baselworld in Switzerland this month.

If it’s for sale? This is a question for me as well but at Basel, your first hand experience will tell you whether it’s worth-buying or no. But thinking of buying this robot would surely reflect one’s taste that considers spending bucks for this and doesn’t always eyes necklace and other accessories.
