Aeroplanes are always a fascination. And so are products made from their parts. Products manufactured from parts of those flying metal birds always find their share of passionate fans. If you have always longed to own a piece of that plane you so loved to fly by, here is yet another chance. The latest in line of such products is the MotoArt 747 Cowling Bar.
The name says it all. It is made from genuine cowling that once formed the covering of Pratt and Whitney jet engine of a Boeing 747. What is unique is that it looks sleek and stylish despite the hardened metal used in it. Ellemme has got together with Sand & Birch to design a new wine cellar concept that is being celebrated as the Winebag Collection. This one has been designed so that it has both functional qualities as well as aesthetic delight. As typical to designs by Ellemme, this one too has been created by combining the best from ancient handicraft with the latest, most innovative production technique.
Especially crafted to be fitted in a hotel room or resort, or even a luxury home front, the Winebag has enough room to store 18 bottles. Oak lamination keeps the doors attractive while the special anti UV rays double glass helps protect the wine from light rays. We are told that the standard version comes in white or black lacquer, but if you do not like those you can try out the deLuxe version that has been covered with fine quality leather but it stores only 8 bottles.

Sag Harbour’s Sen is garnering a lot of interest these days thanks to the exclusive Cointreau Pearls that it’s offering on the menus. The pearls, we are told, are made only with a special kit designed by French mixologist Fernando Castellon and there are only 20 of these so far in the US. So, you can well imagine the popularity pertaining to its exclusivity.
They call this process of making the booze pearls ’spherification’. It was specially designed for Cointreau keeping in mind its unique natural sugar content and pH level. The result is often referred to as Cointreau caviar, which is what the pearls remind you of. Also, no chemicals are used for this little magic in your cocktail and so no tastes are altered. Only Evian and a sphere gel are used.

The traditional workbench has impressed upon a new bar console thatcomes complete with a trestle base and a crank-shaped cast-iron towel bar. Name by its makers, the Markham Console Bar, this furniture unit is living proof of the fact that howsoever, ‘modern’ we might like to call ourselves, we still enjoy going back to our rustic roots. The overall look and feel of this console bar is raw and natural thanks to its base made in pine veneer only to be coated with a wheat stain finish. The detailing in saw marks, grooves and peg holes is extremely impressive.
Even the functionality is amazing. The recessed trough in the rear keeps your liquor bottles safe and sound while the gallery shelf houses the glasses. Then there is the hidden drawer for all your bar tools. A cast iron bottle opener is mounted on the side along side a towel bar.

A new furniture unit out in the luxe market has caught our fancy. Called the Howard Miller Ithaca Pub Table, this one is a beauty of a wine and bar furniture. Ty Pennington has designed this table that comes with four full-extension drawers for all sorts of storages from beverages to snacks or your favorite deck. At any point of time, four people can very comfortably use it.
In fact, the Ithaca table also includes a removable sandstone drink coaster to absorb moisture. And the best part is that the table does not come alone.
