Wars have always taken lives of many innocent men, women and children. The instruments of wars have always been men too, and these foot soldiers and the cavaliers or the horse riders bore the brunt of violence more than the civilians. During the World War I most men sent to fight wars died almost within a week of joining the army in the trenches. Many Australians too fought in the war, and thousands of Australian youth were sent to European trenches where they died within weeks of arrival.

The novel “Fly Away Peter” is a tale that follows the life of Jim, an ornithologist who goes to fight in the World War I in France. He dies. Alan Somerville is an Australian sculptor who has created the Light Horse Soldier sculpture in bronze. These horsemen from Australia fought in the Middle East as well, where they died of exhaustion and violence.

This sculpture reminds you of the futility of war and he thousands of innocent men who died in the name of valour and patriotism. Unfortunately, they were all pawns under corrupt lieutenants and politicians who waged wars insanely for no reason and sacrificed the lives of millions of young soldiers. You could buy the Bronze Light Horse Soldier for $15,500.

There is something really cool about robot and maybe that is because of the influence of movies and pop culture which have always been fascinated by all things that are rooted in science fiction. While robots are no more science fiction and a part of reality, Croatian artist Robert Matysiak has designed these cool Robot Lamps using just plumbing supplies.

The lamps are nuiquely designed and come in many different shapes and sizes. Each of these robots that are made from pipes etc, come with bulbs and they make it look rather avant-garde. The plumbing hardware are rigid and quite unchangeable but the Croatian designer has made sure each Robot Lamp has a character of its own.

It is a great way to teach your children that robots were once a part of fictitious world and only now have they entered everyday lives. I would love to get these Robot Lamps myself, and it would really look good in your living room or anywhere else. In fact, if you are a video game fan, you would love these lamps as they would certainly set the ambience for playing video games based on science fiction plots.

Military inspired fashion has always dominated the fashion ramps all over the world. Menswear has been dominated by fatigues and khakis, jackets that come in camouflage designs and the like. Now, the ffw Mag! from Brazil has done a cover story about military menswear. They are one of the most respected Brazilian magazines specializing in fashion related news and articles and Made in Brazil has more information on that.

This issue’s story dwells on the eroticism that is present in military life and amongst the soldiers themselves. The military menswear story was inspired by Butt & Kaiserin, and the photographer Gui Paganini has done a great job in driving people to grab those military inspired jackets the moment they see the pictures. In fact, army has influenced fashion so much and it could be because of the ongoing wars all around the world.

The photographer has tried to cajole most men to try military fashion and almost get them addicted to military fetishes. Many haute couture labels like Versace, Dolce & Gabanna, DKNY and others have concentrated on military menswear and it is a great thing indeed. As they say, a man in uniform is always more attractive than the rest of them. So go ahead and visit the nearest haute couture department store and grab some hot military inspired cloths.

Jason Stillman is one of those sculptors who take sculpting to a new level. While many of his works are already on display at many places, he has designed an amazing Kinetic Steel Sculpture titled “The Evolution of Flora”. It is right now installed at Performance Arts Center in downtown Colorado Springs and would be available for purchase for $17,000. This large steel fabricated sculpture stands 10-11 feet tall and measures 5-6 feet in width.

It comes with multiple moving parts and the flowers and the leaves flutter in breeze. Using a stain lacquer called Permalac, it can be used as an indoor or an outdoor sculpture. Just two coatings of this amazing lacquer are enough to withstand even extreme weather conditions for about 10 years. The Evolution of Flora allows the viewer and art enthusiast to appreciate the evolution of plants and flowers which are largely ignored by people.

There have been many sculptures about human and animal development and evolution, but rarely about flora. This sculpture brings the importance of plants to the subject of serious art study. Perhaps it is time to invest money in serious art than on boring luxury products that are featured everyday on hundreds of luxury blogs.

We think luxury breeds luxury. And we do not mean it in an infestation sort of a way! It’s simple that luxury impresses one enough to acquire more luxury. Take fine champagne for instance. A nice and exclusive bottle of your favorite fizzy wine easily deserves to be served in the right kind of glass and in a fine champage bowl. This article focuses on the latter.

Copenhagen-based design team GamFratesi has designed a really sleek and beautiful dinosaur egg like work environment for those who have problems concentrating on work. It comes with enough space to keep your desktop, a telephone and a few books and work unhindered in a really sleek area. However, if you are claustrophobic and do not like the idea of being enclosed in such a tiny space, you may not like the “Rewrite“.

Rewrite is a really cool design if you asked me and I would definitely buy one if I actually can. The reason why these work environments are getting popular is because people tend to get distracted very easily these days and that is not a great thing when it comes to working without getting distracted. Thus, designs like rewrite really work wonders.

Imagine a rug fetching a stunning price of $4.34 million. And this thing can be reality (in fact it is so) when the rug in question is the one of the famed ones from Safavid and apparently was a gift from the Safavid Persian court to the Ottoman Turks and must have been used for prayers by the blue blood too. Despite its age, the rug is in a remarkable condition. This artefact represents some gorgeous Persian handicraft and art which was particularly appreciated by Genoan and Venetian merchants.

Sold at Sotheby’s, the rug was expected to fetch anywhere between $130,000 and $192,000 or so claimed the Head of the Middle East & India Department at the store, Edward Gibbs.

Persian rugs and carpets are a venerated line which is much admired all over the world. The intricate embroidery and designs that make use of the finest of silks as well as gold and silver threads, these are nothing short of a work of art. The Safavid rug was just one of the items being sold at the Arts of the Islamic World exhibition at Sotheby’s recently.

Anything bearing the name Louis Vuitton has to be larger than life. Books included. The new coffee table version from Rizzoli is called Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture. And this one is a great anthology of the the fashion house’s collaboration with international elite artists, architects, designers and photographers like Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, David LaChapelle, Annie Leibovitz, Takashi Murakami (who by the way is credited for updating the LV monogram) as well as Richard Prince and Stephen Sprouse.

And these literary pieces are well complemented by stunning and rare images. The critical essays examine (and critically so) the position of Louis Vuitton’s patronage under the guidance of Artistic Director Marc Jacobs. From the looks of ut, this one was the most fertile of all periods for the brand.

The book is very organised and systematic. Serving as an encyclopedia, it has been divided alphabetically giving information on all collaborations, commissions and sponsorhips LV has been associated with over the years.

Quinn Gregory’s love for crystals isn’t any thing new. The talented designer has an uncanny knack for sculpting magificent artworks made from the sparkling ices that never go wrong. Yes, we mean they are never the sorts to give you an overdose of crystals, everything is in thr right amounts. Recently, we got to see the skull sculpture that was brought to life thanks to some 8,000 Swarovksi crystals and some gorgeous blue sapphires. And now it is a beautiful sculpture of Jesus Christ that has got the man in news all over again.

Called Infinite Hope this artwork is set to participate in an art competition. The winner will be granted  acash price of $50,000. The sculpture of the Christian God has been made froma  combination of wood, foam and crystals. The finishing has been done in metallic paint complete with a shiny look.

We are informed that it took Gregory close to ten months to decorate the Jesus Christ sculpture in 250,000 Swarovksi crystals while the base itself was created in 4.5 months.
