The recession might have activated a slowdown in the designer watches market but it could not do anything to dampen the spirits of Christophe Golay. Well, this brand believes that there will always be buyers for ultra-luxury items whether financial hard times or not. In fact, it was with this optimism that it just launched a $350,000 worth super-end timepiece in the U.S markets.

This new range of real stylish and rather extravagant watches comes from Cephee (that’s the name of the product line) and display the finest of Swiss craftsmanship and technology. Among the first ones to be introduced under the new Cephee tag, the watch is called ‘Ether’.

This speciman reflects richness at its purest. 150 precision set baguette diamonds run along its frame while and invisible channel setting lets each stone to reflect all the light that it absorbs. Amidst all the sparkling white ices, the delicate blue-tinted sapphire hands make a very strong impression. As for the strap, it has been made in hand from a very soft and supple leather. Even the buckle is handmade. It’s a limited edition, so what are you waiting for?

The forthcoming 35th anniversary sale from Antiquorum is what the watch collectors and connoisseurs are looking forward to. This event will be held for two days on 14th and 15th of November in Geneva itself. Well, it’s not just the reduced rates but also the exquisite watch pieces which will go on display that is creating all the buzz. We are told that the famous shop brand has decided to keep the most exceptional timepieces aside to mark its special moment.

And the highlight of the sale will be the Calibre 89 timepiece that belongs to the esteemed Matsuda collection, and is designed by none other than Patek Phillipe himself. In fact, this watch is already being touted as the most complicated time teller in the history of the world with not one or two but a sum total of 33 complications!

So far only four models of this intricate timepiece have been created, each in yellow, pink and white gold and one in platinum. We are not told as to which one will it specifically be at the sale in question. But we do have a strong feeling about the same watch, a Calibre 89 cast in yellow gold that Antiquorum sold in 1989. Well as of now, the price range has been estimated between $4,422,430-$ 5,405,574.

It’s a rather regular phenomenon for brand Gerlad Genta to blow their customers away with their collections of super-stylish watches. But their newest offering Arena Metasonic is even more. One look at it and you will realise the many years they must have spent developing this concept. This timepiece is symbolic for holding the company’s obessession with giving their watches a musical twist. We have seen some that repeat time at your command and even those that chime at regular intervals. If we hear correct, you get both and some more in the Arena Metasonic watch.

The frame is 46mm wide and has been made in titanium as well as other special metal alloys to achieve a superior sound quality. The case indeed must have taken a long time to design what with the highly stylized construction that includes technical looking pushers and levers. Even the manually wound movement is very complex since it can be seen through the dial and caseback right behind the sapphire crystals. You can see the cute little hammers too that beat playfully when the sonnerie is activated. We have a sneaky feeling that you might need to wind this watch quite often.

The backside features the dual power reserves. Among the sonnerie functions, you can also enjoy the silent mode. In fact, this timepiece lets you choose between louder and more soft tones. We wanna warn you that it’s gonna be real expensive.

Automotive designers Andy Shaw and Robert Silkstone like to keep themselves busy. So apart from designing cool cars, lately they had been spending a lot of time to develop their first range of watches. We are told that they took almost two years to work on the concept. And the result? Britannic and Vanguard-Precision. These are the names of the two timepieces that will blow you away and burn a hole in you purse too.

We are told that the two watches draw a lot from the designers’ background in the automotive world. In fact, intensive techniques like spark erosion and wire-EDM machining have all been very cleverly combined with laser engraving. For creating Britannic,  the inner case of the watch has been CNC machined. It holds six rare 10 BA screws that were used back in the days of the British Empire. A pattern influenced by the Fibonacci sequence can be seen on the laser cute face of the watch. On the other hand, Vanguard precision has a brown leather calfskin strap with natural colored stitching. Its face reminds one of the flow of cotton through the cloth mills of northern England. It also carries the slogan “Come Into The Factories.”

Since a lot of time goes into making these, the designer duo has decided to limit their production to only 15 units each. The automotive engineering methods have been meshed with the traditional heritage of northern England to craft each of these spectacular timepieces. The price tag of $8,000 might make you scream!

Lange & Sohne who have been shelling out one luxury watch after another especially for the beautiful sex for the past so many years now. And this time, the brand has launched the new Cabaret Soirée timepieces. Each of these watches are 26.5mm wide by 36.3mm tall, all crafted in 18 carat white gold. Some 70 Wesselton diamonds line the bezel that measure up to 0.9 carats.

Then there is the glamorous Sapphire crystal on the caseback that will definitely win your admiration for its hand decorated movement. A. Lange & Sohne has created two versions of the watch, keeping only 10 units for each kind.

The dial is lined with solid silver on rhodium coated gold hands. Model number Ref. 827.029  has the lining in baby blue with a matching light blue crocodile strap while the other one 827.035 is in rose pink matched with a mother-of-pearl rose colored pink crocodile strap. All these watches have in-house made movements that support manual winding. It assures a power reserve of 42 hours.

Audemars Piguet is all set to mark Mexico’s 200 years of independence by releasing a new watch called Audemars Royal Oak Offshore Piguet Pride of Mexico Watch. Now, we do not know what they were thinking when choosing the name but what we do know is that the watch makes used of the Royal Oak Offshore case and style giving various hints of the country it is dedicated too. There is a white dial, green hour markers and a red hand to mimic the colors of the Mexican flag.

The case is 42mm wide, crafted from 18 carat rose gold. There are 100 of these available. The case also comes in the titanium option, of which only 200 units have been produced. Flip the watch and you will spot an image of the Angel of Independence that is located in Mexico city. This monument hold a special place in the hearts of the Mexicans as it reminds them of their glorious history.

The innards of the timepiece support Audemars Piguet Calibre 2326/2804 automatic chronograph movement. It promises a 38 hour power reserve with a Cotes de Geneve finshing on the back. The watch strap is hornback crocodile leather.

Business seems to be going good for brand Vacheron Constantin. In fact, it has recently opened up shop in Hong Kong too. And marking this big event are three all new limited edition Dragon watches. As the name suggests, the dragon motif is quite dominant here which has been made in hand pertaining to the delicate work involved. Not just that, there is also some beautiful guilloche machine engraving that too requires the sincere efforts of a skilled artist.

The markets will have only nine units of each model. The three watches have been done in diferent shades of gold each with a slightly different image of the Chinese dragon. So, you can well expect each model to be unique. The inside of the watches function as per the signature Vacheron Constantin movement. The strap is made from high quality black alligator leather. No word on the pricing.

Vacheron has pinned a lot of hopes on it’s Hong Kong boutique because the next breed of Chinese generation is expected to become serious buyers of fashion owing to current economic growth in the country.

For the last few years, brand Dior has been sneaking out watch releases into our closets. The latest are two new styles from the Christal watch line that crave for your appreciation. Referred to as the Christal 42mm Automatic (yep, we do realise that this isn’t too creative), the two watches have been designed so as to marry the modern sporty dive style with art deco.

No prizes for guessing the size of the case. It is 42mm wide! Black sapphires on the bracelet have been shaped after the pyramid. At this, the fashion house has given two different style options. Black lacquer donns the dial while the pyramid theme is continued in the center. The diamonds make a weave pattern all along the middle. Frankly, we liked the design case better and the bracelet much better than the dial, which looks a tad too cluttered.

The hours have been marked in Arabic numerals (now, that might be a bit of a trouble for some to get accustomed to). The mechanism is SWiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement which can be seen at its busiest best through the sapphire crystal caseback window.

The name Parmigiani Fleurer is not a stranger to collectors of expensive designer watches. Well, the designer indeed has an impressive list of coveted timepieces to his credit. And now, the man has decided to pay a tribute to the new super-saloon Galibier being made in the Bugatti workshop as well as the Alsatian automaker’s centenary.

There are two unique examples of Fleurier’s sideways mounted manual timepiece. One has been made in 18 carat rose gold and the second one in platinum 950. These are being celebrated as the two final examples of the highly intricate Bugatti Type 370 wristwatch. These were then passed on to master engraver Philippe Bondenmann who has dedicated 300 manhours into each trying to hand etch the comples designs into the cases of the watches.

The two timepiece are fastened to the wrist with the aid of a calfskin strap that has been supplied by Hermes. So, as you can see these dedications are indeed as priceless as the Bugatti supercars that we have loved and admired so much oe hundered years.
