The year end will witness famous auction house Bonhams conduct a very rare sale of luxury watches that belong to the private collection of the Porsche Family. The name of the event to be held at New Bond Street is ‘Fine Watches & Wristwatches’. And you can safely expect some of the best creations ever in the world of uber rich timepieces here.

A very unique auction, it will feature pieces by Eterna, Porsche Design, Panerai, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre, Breitling, Eberhard, Omega and Chronoswiss. In other words, every brand that you ever loved will be pretty much under this one roof. The high point of the event will be an 18 carat gold chronograph by Eterna that has an estimated price bracket of £4000-6000. This one was presented to Dr. Ferdinand Oliver Porsche on his 40th birthday celebration.
Again, there is also one spectacular watch called Porsche Design that is known for its different dial designs and it carries an estimated price of £1800-2200. Do look out for Porsche Design prototypes, the Dashboard PTR-Titan Rattrapante, Rolex Explorer II and Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Polaris.

And we though all sorts of diamond watches had already been made. Well, almost! Brand Century has come up with a very unique way to do the unexpected. It has come up with a very graceful use of synthetic sapphire crystals that it is known for. Close to 341 diamonds along with nine of these large and clear sapphire crystals have been cast in 18 carat white gold to create the spectacular Century Grace Watch.

As far as the dial goes, it too bears the gentle kiss of the sapphire crystals. This has been cut and polished in hand to complement the 164 baguette cut diamonds on the case. There are dauphine watch hands to mirror the dial.

Well, this brand believes that there will always be buyers for ultra-luxury items whether financial hard times or not. In fact, it was with this optimism that it just launched a $350,000 worth super-end timepiece in the U.S markets.

This new range of real stylish and rather extravagant watches comes from Cephee (that’s the name of the product line) and display the finest of Swiss craftsmanship and technology. Among the first ones to be introduced under the new Cephee tag, the watch is called ‘Ether’.

This speciman reflects richness at its purest. 150 precision set baguette diamonds run along its frame while and invisible channel setting lets each stone to reflect all the light that it absorbs. Amidst all the sparkling white ices, the delicate blue-tinted sapphire hands make a very strong impression. As for the strap, it has been made in hand from a very soft and supple leather. Even the buckle is handmade. It’s a limited edition, so what are you waiting for?

The forthcoming 35th anniversary sale from Antiquorum is what the watch collectors and connoisseurs are looking forward to. This event will be held for two days on 14th and 15th of November in Geneva itself. And the highlight of the sale will be the Calibre 89 timepiece that belongs to the esteemed Matsuda collection, and is designed by none other than Patek Phillipe himself. So far only four models of this intricate timepiece have been created, each in yellow, pink and white gold and one in platinum. We are not told as to which one will it specifically be at the sale in question. But we do have a strong feeling about the same watch, a Calibre 89 cast in yellow gold that Antiquorum sold in 1989. Well as of now, the price range has been estimated between $4,422,430-$ 5,405,574.

It’s a rather regular phenomenon for brand Gerlad Genta to blow their customers away with their collections of super-stylish watches. But their newest offering Arena Metasonic is even more. One look at it and you will realise the many years they must have spent developing this concept. This timepiece is symbolic for holding the company’s obessession with giving their watches a musical twist. We have seen some that repeat time at your command and even those that chime at regular intervals. If we hear correct, you get both and some more in the Arena Metasonic watch.

The frame is 46mm wide and has been made in titanium as well as other special metal alloys to achieve a superior sound quality. The case indeed must have taken a long time to design what with the highly stylized construction that includes technical looking pushers and levers. Even the manually wound movement is very complex since it can be seen through the dial and caseback right behind the sapphire crystals. You can see the cute little hammers too that beat playfully when the sonnerie is activated. We have a sneaky feeling that you might need to wind this watch quite often.

Automotive designers Andy Shaw and Robert Silkstone like to keep themselves busy. So apart from designing cool cars, lately they had been spending a lot of time to develop their first range of watches. We are told that they took almost two years to work on the concept. And the result? Britannic and Vanguard-Precision. These are the names of the two timepieces that will blow you away and burn a hole in you purse too.

We are told that the two watches draw a lot from the designers’ background in the automotive world. In fact, intensive techniques like spark erosion and wire-EDM machining have all been very cleverly combined with laser engraving. For creating Britannic,  the inner case of the watch has been CNC machined. It holds six rare 10 BA screws that were used back in the days of the British Empire. A pattern influenced by the Fibonacci sequence can be seen on the laser cute face of the watch. On the other hand, Vanguard precision has a brown leather calfskin strap with natural colored stitching. Its face reminds one of the flow of cotton through the cloth mills of northern England. It also carries the slogan “Come Into The Factories.”

Since a lot of time goes into making these, the designer duo has decided to limit their production to only 15 units each. The automotive engineering methods have been meshed with the traditional heritage of northern England to craft each of these spectacular timepieces. The price tag of $8,000 might make you scream!
