The rags (meant only figuratively here) to riches story will have another real life incident added to its list of anecdotes. Latest buzz in the news world tells us that an extremely lucky and ignorant British family had the first edition of Charles Darwin’s the ‘Origin of Species’ eating dust on their bookshelf. Well, they just happened to see a picture of the book’s spine somewhere, which led them pondering, “Don’t we have this at home?”

And they were right. Reuters report that the book was originally purchased for just a few shillings way back in th 60s or 70s (the family does not remember). Since then, it lay undiscovered on a dusty shelf. But now, a rather bright and glamorous future awaits this book that will be auctioned off at Christie’s to celebrate the edition’s 150th anniversary. The estimated price is between $66,000 and $100,000.
So, it’s a lesson learnt that more attention should be paid to the attic and dusty, forgotten areas of the house. After all, you might not have the faintest idea what valuables might be lying there in wait for you!

The rationale behind designing these mice is to extract maximum benefits and use out of natural materials and also extend their longetivity as well. The mice come with a warranty of 5 years and they can be upgraded to extend the service.

The mice are naturally eco-friendly products as they are made of pure cultivable woods for industrial purposes. The mice look ultra classy as they are well sanded and well polished. The shiny finishing touch is given by using linseed oil and carnuba wax. Each of the mice comes with an optical resolution of 1600 dpi, and microswitches rated for over 1 million clicks.

Interestingly, the mice also have a sound-wheel control by which you can adjust your system’s volume according to your likes. Good or bad, but I have a fad for innovative electronic things. Not all my belongings are pricey but truly they make up for out-of-the-box argot.  To count on fingers, I have never compromised on my foot wears, handbags and wrist watches. And here I am celebrating the receipt of my flashy red i-toc aluminium model.

Literally, this elite creation from UK-based designer Sean Zoegawatch looks a little bizarre on its first-look–a neat rectangle minus hour and minute hand. But yes, it deserves the title of wristwatch as i-toc works on a revolutionary principle.

To be straight, the finished model comes with “graduated” discs (the inner one reflecting hours and outer one pointing to minutes).  Not to mention , I struggled for couple of minutes fixing time and dealing with its “overlong” strap until I discovered that the extra length of the strap needs to be chopped (one section at a time), thereby maintaining a gap of approx 30 mm where you finally carry it. Not to brag, it’s a real beauty man!

The year end will witness famous auction house Bonhams conduct a very rare sale of luxury watches that belong to the private collection of the Porsche Family. The high point of the event will be an 18 carat gold chronograph by Eterna that has an estimated price bracket of £4000-6000. This one was presented to Dr. Ferdinand Oliver Porsche on his 40th birthday celebration.

Louis Vuitton has added another item in its ‘I love’ list. No, it’s not clothes for this once. More than anything in the world, this brand too loves being pampered by its die hards. And we have seen how loyalists find ways to show their allegiance to a name. We are not talking about LV dresses and bags over here. In fact, it is a bike on the streets (maybe not literally so, yet) that has caught everyone’s attention this time.

The bike is question is an Italian KTM 250 freestyle motorcycle. And the one riding it is Vanni Oddera, who regards himself as a worshipper of Louis Vuitton. We spotted this two-wheeler at this years EICMA motor show that was held in Milan.
The spunky bike has been done up in an orange and gold combination. The graffiti on the the fenders get a great complement in the form of a signature Louis Vuitton logo seat. We are not quite sure if this bike would be up for sale. It does look pretty unlikely if Vanni would like to part with his sweetheart. But where’s the trouble., after all you can always design your very own!

I never was one for lusting after cars and even though motorbikes are quite cool, nothing can capture the quiet stle of a simple bike. Since the inception of the auto giant Rolls Royce, the company has had a lot of things. Apart from style, luxury, and and a stronghold over the auto industry, something that rolls Royce has always had is the peple’s attention. And, with the kind of cars they deal out every year, it’s a fact that this company will have our attention and admiration for many more years.

Sometime ago, news leaked out that Rolls Royce was planning on coming out with an electric car. For some, it went completely against the image of a Rolls but now that the company has announced that the first electric Rolls would be a Phantom, things are starting to look clearer. Rolls reveals that the electric Phantom would be out by the end of 2010 which means that car fanatics have barely a year to wait and see how good this turns out.

Rolls Royce believes that adding an electric car to their fleet would carve their name solidly into people’s minds as a company wishes to go green and are making efforts to do so; we’ll just have to wait and see how good it is. As for the Phantom, the car would probably cost near $400,000 and looks good enough to save the planet in!
